the dang old bowl. Thats right the Independence. Matchup vs the #7 ACC. We saw this coming with the addition of new teams but I was hoping for something different. Shreveport is a dump. If we win 6 again and maybe even 7, we know were MSU is going...

Wish we would have landed one of the Dallas bowls or even the New Orleans Bowl. All of those have more potential than a bowl in Shreveport.

Lots of things to do there besides casinos, although those places have good entertainment besides gambling.

If you get a chance visit Double D's in Bossier. Also, they are building a new Hilton Garden Inn and a new Homewood Suites on the site of the old Holiday Inn directly across the street from Double D's. Lots of things in other areas like the Kings Highway area of Shreveport as well as downtown on both sides of the river, including Riverwalk.

Obviously New Orleans, Atlanta, Dallas, Nashville, Jacksonville and Orlando are better, but I would definitely take going to the Independence Bowl over Birmingham and Memphis if I had a choice.

I think MSU busted onto the national scene and showed we can bring numbers if we're good. If we win 6 games we'll always go there or Memphis, but if we're a bubble for big bowls I think we'll always get it. For some reason I think Shreveport will become Mizzou's second home.

Sanford Indy Bowl win, with special uniforms, having a white-out, and honoring .500 coaching great Jackie Sherill.

This post coming from a fan who hates to admit that we are the all-time Indy bowl appearance and win leader. And for the record, we can't come close to sniffing the Indy Bowl or any bowl this year.

and probably better than Memphis. And I am guessing it will be our #9 facing their #7.

7-5 could end up number 9 in a 14 team SEC. Just preparing for the possibilities.

...but it'll take a miracle. I'm with the guy that commented on it being better than Memphis or Birmingham, though. I live near Memphis...despise the Liberty Bowl game experience...not the city but just not interested in going to the stadium for a game there...blah. If we ever make it again, I'm sure I'll go (right now, probably would walk on glass for any bowl), but, just sayin....and Birmingham?...no, just....no.

I never failed to have a great time in Shreveport...and as you noted, we've had a LOT of chances to find out what to do down there.

I'd love it if the SEC had a New Orleans (as already mentioned) OR Las Vegas Bowl tie in. I'd go to Las Vegas for a bowl every single time.

I'd prefer Nashville, but I'm indifferent between Memphis and Shreveport and Birmingham. The reality is for any of those bowls, I'm coming the night before, eating at the best restaurant I can, spending game day drinking, and then crashing soon after the game.

But yeah, if you won't a nightlife, I'm guessing Shreveport is the worst bowl location for the SEC.

He was 52-28 @ A&M.

He went 11-6 against real rivals** Those rivals were a combined 31-9 the previous 20 years against the teams Jackie inherited.

in 2 years when the contract runs out. I tried to keep them somewhat located in the southeast. And Im keeping the low tier SEC bowl tie-in in mind

-R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl- N.O., bourbon street, real close, great food. My #1 choice. An SEC team could catapult this bowl game up a few notches
-Beef O'Brady Bowl- St. Petersburg Fla. I know nothing of this town but florida>shreveport
-Belk Bowl- Charlotte, NC. Its actually a fairly high matchup (ACC 5 vs Big East 3) but thehy love those vs #8 SEC teams
-Meinike Car Care Bowl- Houston, Texas. I could definitely go for some papa do's
-Ticket City Bowl- Dallas, TX- Im assuming its in Jerry World. Hell its in Dallas, nuff said
-Go Daddy Bowl- Yes I know, Ladd Peebles is a 17ing dump. But Mobile aint a bad town. I saw USM vs Ohio in 2005 and had a blast. Daulphin Street and plenty of good food in Mobile

I realize some of these bowls are very low profile but after a 6-7 win season its more about the town than the bowl in my view. For instance, the music city wasnt prestigious at all but Nashville was fun as hell.

I intentionally left of the Alamo Bowl and the Champs Sports Bowl b/c they were high matchups for both BCS conferences. Doesnt mean Slive couldnt pull a string if thats what he wanted. A whole lot of options in 2 years when the Indy's contract expires

or are there some years you aren't counting? He was 64-48 around the snow bowl HERE .

But he coached three more seasons and lost 27 games those three years.

I remember having to google just what the %@@$ a Beef O Brady was last year.

Since Shreveport was where we lived while I was in college, I've been several times and actually always had a really good time. Then again, put me in a casino surrounded by college chicks and I'll have fun, no matter what town.

And you can get Papadeaux's anywhere in Texas, there are like 40 of them. So trade the Alamo for the Meinike. Plus I wouldn't have to leave town, and Houston sucks. And isn't the Go Daddy bowl like before Christmas or some crap like that?

ignorant uninformed "sportscasters" across the media opinions of Starkvegas....not comparing Starkville with Shreveport but it's a perception thing.

of towns that seemed more attractive for a leisure trip that happen to have a bowl game we could play in. Yes, some of those bowls are very low tier but i would take those trips over shreveport. I have never been a big fan of Shreveport. I'll admit it, Im no shreveport pro and I may not know where to find the donkey shows and bath salts, but I would prefer the other places. My number #1 no doubt would be the New Orleans bowl. What better way to polish off a decent 6-7 win year with a N.O trip. I could care less if its vs the Sun Belt champion, hell bring on Troy, Asu, or ULL

He was 74-76-2. In 1993 Bama beat us on the field but later forfeited because Antonio Langham was declared ineligible.

The Independence vs ACC 7 is 100000 times better than "rewarding" the players by playing a traditional homecoming opponent from the CUSA in the Liberty bowl.
