Fedora's OC is expected to be offered the job first.

I wonder who will be the head coach at USM???...

I bet there are a lot of Southern fans who would like to see Brett Favre as head coach.

Johnson knew yesterday he was not coming back. So did the AD and Aubrey Lucus. Why they decided to hold out another day before releasing all this to the public, I don't know. Maybe they had some stuff to work out with the buyout.

Just because they tell you it was done at a certain time, does not mean that's when it actually happened.

He gehe full $2.1M buyout. So that's $2.8M for 0 wins for USM. Their cost per win is infinity.

A friend of mine who is a USM fan says that they've sold their home game with Nebraska for next season back to Nebraska. He claims for $2M, but I doubt they got that much for it, but still probably enough to pay about 1/2 the buyout.

That is the word on the street that I have been hearing. It is supposed to be for $2M.

To me it feels like Ellis came from the Crooms coaching tree. He always talked about "doing things the Right way" but never with anything to show for it on the field. As a head coach he is 17-40. I don't know if that includes this year but I feel safe saying that he is not HC material. Great DC but as a HC, notsomuch. Same as Crooms.

I'm betting they needed to poll the college board before making it public.

If their jack-*** fans would have at least sold out home games while Fedora was there, the buy-out would be less of an issue. USM fans are a different breed- horrible support and lots of finger-pointing.

Reading the AD's statement, he didn't even mention EJ and EJ didn't issue a statement. I don't think it was a very amicable parting. EJ just took the damn $2.1 mil check and headed for the bank.

He's got at least five years in the MS retirement system. That's 10% of the highest four year average he made. So, if he averaged $250,000, $25,000 a year (plus the 13th check) iss a nice chunk of pocket change to go with his $2.1 million buyout.
