Well, at least Florida won tonight

Would be nice to have the momentum of a 7 game winning streak going into the Ole Miss series... assuming we sweep the Valley DH.

If we take two of three from Ole Miss, I'm pretty confident we would be tied for the SEC West lead going into the final weekend.

One of the good things about the Valley series is it almost assures that we will go into the Ole Miss series confident. Of course, it will hurt our RPI. And actually, those games are fairly important- if we lose one of those games, I think we're probably toast as far as the postseason.

But, as far as tommorrow, I'm pulling for MSU of course, South Carolina, LSU and Georgia. If Alabama beats LSU again, that wouldn't bother me too much- Alabama has Auburn and then South Carolina- I'm hoping that the two Alabama schools beat each other up. If Bama beats LSU tommorrow, it could put them in an uphill climb for sure because then they will be three games back.

We all know your dumb *** will be calling it a loss bright and early for us

this is a great experience for our freshmen- Bradford, Norris, Stark,Mitchell, etc. Just being in a pennant race- or whatever the SEC calls it- is beneficial for us in the long term. If they win it, it will be an even better experience for them.

But the only way that you are not right is if something happens like the Florida/Arkansas series where Arkansas takes two out of three.

Also, it hurts us that we didn't get UK this year. That's at least two more SEC wins right there. If we do win it, not having to play them would make winning it all that more impressive.

I know we haven't won an SEC title since 1989, but I don't think we've even won a Western Division championship since the two divisions formed in 1992. That is really sad to think about, considering all the baseball tradition we have.

blame me for that? Posts indicating the sky is falling are out of frustration, not actually my carefully considered predictions or thoughts. This board was made for that reason...bitching when you are frustrated.

Most posts I make about our baseball team are positive. But, in midgame, they usually aren't. Now, I rarely post a positive comment about our basketball team, because that program is going nowhere.

If Cohen had a track record like Stansbury, we'd all be screaming too. It's the ridiculous over-reactions that ruffle everyone's feathers.<div>
</div><div>Cohen, while not as quickly as he did at UK, is turning this program around. If you can't see it, go to the eye doctor cause you're blind. </div>

All I ever see I is bitching about how bad they suck and calling games in the second inning

The only time I've ever questioned my position is the Alabama series. His decisions in that series were inexcusable.

That's not to say that I don't criticize his unfailing loyalty to Collins and Freeman. Just because I like the way the program is headed doesn't mean he is perfect, noone is.

Many on this board, including myself, have been critical, at times, of Mullen's offensive playcalling in specific situations and with specific decisions that he has made. But it's crazy to think that all of those posters are not in support of Mullen, just like it's crazy to think I'm not in support of Cohen.

I get frustrated and overreact in game situations more then others, so what.

The SEC has pretty much always been split into two divisions in baseball except for a short period in the late 80s until the SEC expanded to 12 teams. And really, since the SEC expanded in 1992, our baseball tradition hasn't been anything special at all. Everybody talks about how much Polk sucked in his 2nd term at MSU, but the truth is he started mailing it in in about 1992.

from 83-85 unless I'm mistaken. What's weird about that to me is that MSU doesn't say anything about that recognizing those championships. Of course, I would display our program achievements more prominently at Dudy-Noble Field in general.

MSU won Western Division titles in 62, 65, 66, 70, 71, 79, 81, 83 and 84

Florida leads the league with 20 division titles ... followed by LSU (15), Ole Miss (11) and Auburn (11)

I'm thinking the SEC Tournament was in Baton Rouge and at that time it was hosted by the division winner.

And we also won the SEC outright.

But looking at the LSU media guide, LSU claims the Western Division title, but they also had a better SEC record than us.

I guess we're saying that since we won the SEC Tournament that year that we are the SEC champs?

that SEC tourney wins were added to regular season wins to determine the SEC Overall Champion. State won the overall with the combination.

That's actually a pretty cool way of determining the overall champ. Makes the tourney more important.
