The walk-on alumni of the great University of Alabama have officially christened THIS YEAR as their year to win it all! Yes, sports fans, USC's loss and Bama's guaranteed victory over UGA Saturday will propel the hungry tiders into title contention. Just had a sidewalker (a graduate of Troy State) leave my office proclaiming Bama officially "2 years ahead of schedule" and on track to win it all in 08.

As a state fan, I simply responded, "That's nice. Let me know how that works out for you."

Any game in the SEC can surprise you, but I sure as hell hope that LSU takes care of the Tide in November at home. This will be Saban's first return appearance in Death Valley. Tigers will come out focused and ready to play. Hell, the student section has been planning for November 8th since about March.</p>

We all know how that ended up for them. Once they play some teams with a good pass rush, and some pressure gets applied to John Parker Henig, then we'll see Bama return closer to form. They are better than they were last year, but I can't see them keeping this up all season.

That's the big question for Bama fans. Seriously though, they started out last year like 5-1 or something like that, started getting hype and ended up in the Indy Bowl after losing to La.-Monroe late in the year.

They are a decent football team, but they won't be in the top 10 at the end of the year. They will be doing great to finish 9-3.

AU is the team I see running into problems throughout the year. Bama is not nat'l title contender material right now but they are more balanced and talented on offense.

At LSU and Auburn at home. They have 5 weeks between UGA and LSU. As outrageous as it seems, this is not out of the question.

To go undefeated, they'd have to beat UGA, LSU, Auburn, and then win the SEC title game against either Florida or UGA. If they were to be title contenders, they'd almost definitely have to do it as a 1 loss team. I don't see them going undefeated, and honestly I think they'll struggle to do better than 9-3 in the regular season.

If they lose any OL starter (like they did for the Tulane game), the replacement is either a true freshman or a guy that would be 2nd team at state [think about that ... let that sink in]. I simply cannot see how it's possible that they get lucky enough to avoid injuries on the OL in big games. I will admit I'm wrong if they do, but I ain't planning on admitting anything. 8-4 or 9-3.

They beat a hugely overrated (and historical underperforming) Clemson team, 2 nobodies, and the worst team in the SEC. They'll come crashing back down to earth tomorrow. They have a good team, but they'll lose at least 3 games this year.

the rest of their schedule appears to be very, very doable on paper.

UK - should win
OM - should win
@UT - should win
Ark St. - should win
@LSU - tough test, we still don't really know how good LSU is at this point, Bama historically plays well in Tiger Stadium
MSU - should win (but, hell you never know. Ya'll always seem to step it up in this game)
AU - tossup at this point

If they win tomorrow, they probably won't lose a game until they go to LSU on Nov. 8, meaning I'll have to refrain from visiting my family in Alabama for at least 5 or 6 weeks.

That game is going to be extremely big. Saban making his return to Death Valley has the makings for a classic

Arkansas beat a I-AA team in the last minute of the game. Not to take anything away from our suckitude, but until I see differently, Arkansas is the worst team in the SEC.

Trust me on this, LSU is very very good. Much better than Alabama. Bama playing wel in Tiger Stadium used to be true, but not so much any more. They've lost the last 2 there (neither was close) and 3 of the last 4.

Bama fans think they are national championship bound. Holy Cow!!! But seriously, after they beat Clemson a guy called into Southeastern drive time and pronounced "Bama is Back!!" It was all Steve Ellis could do to keep from calling him a <17>wad.

The game is in Tuscaloosa. Bama is sick of hearing about the streak. Auburn has no offense.

We'll see.
