Who had Auburn at worse shape at QB than even Crooms did at M-state.

this sux...what a damn letdown

And you have to wonder how much confidence our staff has in Russell with them trying to bring in another juco QB- you bring juco's in to play, not to sit around...especially with Relf in the picture

because, like the jackstefano thread, many of the best don't pan out, much less some no name from California. I say go with Favre and Brunetti, if possible. Stockpile for the future.

We have no experienced or reliable deep threat at WR, and I'm not sold on Wilder. If Vye commits, maybe he comes in and gets the job, and Russell plays backup for 2 years and starts his junior year.

It's as much that as it is trying to bring in the very best players that we can and trying to build our QB depth up.

Kind of like the Philadelphia Eagles bringing in Vick. They have Donovan McNabb, but if you have a chance to get a player who can help you, you do it. The biggest difference is of course Newton would have started at MSU.

I think the reason for going after the CA dude is for an insurance policy. What if Russell got hurt? Relf not known to be the greatest passer so we would/could be very limited. This guy might give us some backup passing insurance.

I guess I can't give him much **** for picking another school. It's his life. But, 17 him for picking a divisional opponent at the last minute. He can kiss my *** for that and I'm sure Mullen would agree. Oklahoma, fine. KSU, fine. NC, fine. Not Auburn - that stings. Maybe Rollison will beat him out in camp next year or they will run the wildcat with Burns 30% of the time and I get get a good laugh out of it. Best of luck to him in that pro-style offense of Auburn's in all but one game next year.

Now, maybe we can land Brunetti??

about his decision. Now that it's made, let it go. We didn't "lose" him since we never "had" him. There's no guarantee that he would have been any better than Schaffer was at Mississippi.

that philosophy is fine when dealing with HS players, but you bring in juco guys to play. They have already been starting, and dont have time to sit and watch. Juco's that dont start are poison.

Building depth would be signing HS QB's.

Maybe it's just me, but I really have faith in Tyler Russell. I've been saying it since this whole thing started. Yes, I would have loved to have Newton, but now that we don't and it's over, we move on. Russell will be good, and we know for sure that he'll be better than TYSON LEE. Not to mention, I absolutely loved watching our triple option attack with Relf. Who knows, it might continue next year as another two qb system-whatever works. But one things for sure, if Newton comes out and is even average, we will forget about him pretty quick. Unless he's a stud, I don't think we'll miss him next year.
