Why would they? If any of the allegations are proven to be true, and it is certainly looking like some of them will be, then Auburn's season will be 17ed. They might as well play Newton as long as they can, because they are screwed either way. If I was them I say it 17 it and make a run at the title.
I think the question now becomes just how hard does the NCAA potentially come down on them. If everything that is alleged is proven true, they might get the worst sanctions since SMU.

There is no point to sit him. If they win out and he's found ineligible then what? They go 3-9 with 9 forfeits instead of going 0-12? Not point in sitting him at this point. If this was game 3 or 4 I could see it, but Auburn has all their eggs in one basket at this point.

If they don't announce it during College Gameday brought to you by Home Depot then it will be announced during pregame warm-ups/just before kickoff.
If I had to put a number on it I say Saturday @ 9:59 or Chism...er Chizik doesn't tell anyone and we find out with the commentators around kickoff.
