Well, our schedule next year keeps getting tougher...

saying it will happen but it is not a crazy thought. They get Alabama, LSU, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss at home. They can certainly win all those. They play great at home. They get South Carolina, Georgia, Auburn, and us on the road. They will probably lose to Auburn but the other 3 are winnable.
i'd go claussen for a few reasons.
(1) he's been playing in a pro offense under a proven pro OC (regardless of the coach's "success" in college).
(2) he has an NFL arm and is amazingly accurate.
(3) he seems to have much less "bust potential" than mallett. to explain, mallett seems a perfect candidate for a leaf-ish draft bust. big arm. attitude. college offense. the transfer may indicate instability (though i don't fault him for running from richrod's offense). criticized for lack of touch at times.
now, mallett certainly has the size and arm strength. he could have a higher ceiling than claussen. i just think claussen is more of a "sure thing". i also think that if mallett really could've been one of the top 3 QBs taken, he would have come out. at least he should have.

Not to hijack the thread but story on him getting arrested for public intoxication a few years back. He was drunk as hell outside the bar. Cop approaches him and warns him. Mallet says "You know who I am." Cop, "yes, now find a ride home." Mallet..."you just mad cause I am making bank." Cop...."What? Leave now!" Mallet..."Suck my dick." Mallet gets cuffed and a ride to the station.........as Paul Harvey would say.....and now you know the rest of the story.

or shoulder 17ed up on some freak play against East Texas Crap State or somebody. That's more of my point. Arkansas ain't gonna win the national championship, or the SEC championship. So what's the point of risking it all?
Having Bama and UF on the road eases some of the pain, as those are likely losses anyway. If Georgia and Arkansas don't end up being significantly better next year, having them at home gives us a chance to beat them. I'd rather have LSU and the Hat at home or Houston at home, but that's still not as bad as this past year.</p>
Arkansas had their way with Auburn this past year. Why would you count that as a sure loss for them next year?
Arkansas and LSU no matter where we've played them. I can't remember ever beating Georgia in my lifetime and the Houston trip would have been MUCH more winnable without a seasoned Case Keenum still there. The only team we play next year that might have slipped a few notches will be OM and Florida but FL still will have tons more talent than us and it will be in the Swamp. Hopefully LSU will keep sliding under the Hat making that a more winnable game.

I hadn't thought about MSU beating Georgia until you wrote that. We don't play them very often and I know we've had a couple recent close games with them, but had to go look it up. MSU last beat UGA in 1974. Lost 9 in a row to them since. We also beat them in 1970, and those are the only two wins we have against them since 1956. Overall series 5-16 against them.
Lost to them 23-10 in Starkville in 2004. Off the top of my head, I remember the game to be much closer than the score.
Lost to them 27-24 in Athens in 2005. I definitely remember this one. At the very end, we were in easy FG position to tie (and had huge momentum) , but Henig fumbled the ball on a pass attempt instead of throwing it away or just taking the tackle.
They were a Top 20 team for most of this year, just beat us in Starkville and with us having to go out there to play them with Keenum still at QB I would say its no more than a 50/50 proposition on us winning. That's why I was hoping Keenum would go pro. Given we lose Vandy in-conference though it becomes vitally important that we win our non-conference games if we want to go bowling.
