It was believed Oats and Hurley would be UK's first 2 calls. Oats has issued a statement saying he's not going anywhere. Yes, an Alabama basketball coach chose Bama over UK. Oof. Hurley just won his second consecutive title, even though he lost 3 starters from last year's team. That means he's won 2x as many titles as UK has in the last 25 years. UConn overall has won 6 in that time frame. UK would be a step down for him.

That leaves Donovan, Pitino and Drew as likely candidates.

Expectations is the key in every job, especially coaching, and when they are unrealistic, they're a monster weight on the shoulders which most do not wish to bear.

Alabama is such a better job than UK. They have all of the resources, and maybe more - they only lack the history (which is a great thing because they also lack the psychotic fans with their unrealistic pressure and expectations).

Yep, in some ways, Oats is a more successful version of Stoops at UK. He's succeeding in a sport at a school that doesn't REALLY care about that sport. The pressure at UK in basketball is akin to the pressure at Bama in football. Similarly, the pressure at UK in football is probably similar to the pressure at Bama in basketball.
