I had heard at the time that he wasn't a willing participant in the family's move to Dallas. And that apparently his wife found out about some of his shenanigans and said "we're moving"... then SP came out with that BS press release about them "always wanting to settle down" in Dallas just to quiet some of the rumors regarding him being named had coach in Dallas. Who knows, but scandals that don't involve me are always fun.
but I did hear from 2 different sources that Payton was seeing a woman in the NOLA Warehouse District.
I heard she is the one he was having extra-marital relations with. Grandpa Benson found out, which is why she was removed from her leadership position with the team. This is just a rumor that was floating around the NOLA area not too long ago - but has died down since. I think everybody hears it once and gasps, then hears it again and realized they don't really care - because Rita is a rich hottie (more rich than hottie, but it adds to the overall package).
