Hope this is sarcasm. Have we really become this freaking soft? We are now pushing to ban someone who has worked to be the best he can be just because others can't keep up.

It was actually an interesting article with all the tidbits about the historical rule adjustments caused by the physical domination of certain players. I didn’t realize all that had occurred.

I think he was trying to use the “kick him out of the NBA” narrative as a candid expression of how truly good Wemby actually is, essentially saying that he’s so good that there’s not even a rule change or court dimensional change that can be implemented to level the playing field in his case.

Where he kind of went overboard is all the idiotic assumptions about the quality of play diminishing when a bunch of teams in the future blowing draft capital on a “Wemby stopper”. First, it’s counterintuitive to his entire point…..the guy is so good that he transcends basketball spacetime, so how is finding a “Wemby stopper” even possible? Secondly, it just ignores the fact that the Knicks just bítch slapped the Spurs in the Finals like 4 months ago, and the Thunder were literally one play or made / missed shot away - on multiple occasions - from winning the Western Conference finals 4-2. Therefore, his whole narrative that the rest of the league is hopeless for a decade unless he gets hurt is really ridiculous.

Yes, the dude is really good. Maybe the best ever. Yes, he provides a tremendous advantage when he’s out there. But he’s still just one player.

If he stays healthy he will break so many records. There really isn’t even a point in voting on defensive POY while he is there

It would be interesting to get on Kalshi or DraftKings and try to wager on something like Wemby getting a quadruple double this season. I wonder what odds you would get?

The quadruple double is the rarest feat in modern professional sports. More rare than a 4-HR game in MLB, a 20-strikeout game in MLB, or a 5-goal game in the NHL. Nobody has done it in the NBA since David Robinson in 1994….and he was right at the limit on everything but points (10 rebs, 10 blocks, 10 assists). I would bet almost anything that Wemby will break the dry spell at some point in his career. He almost did it in the playoffs last season.
