Wendy's used to be by far the best of the big 3 or whatever fast foo burger joints. The last few times I've had it - probably a half dozen in the last 5 years - it's just been sad. Their chicken sandwich (not the cheap one, the good one) was legit good, and they offered spicy way before anybody else. It's just a turd now. Andthe hell are those nuggs even made of?

Also, we went from the Super Bar and the sunroom to this. I've seen prisons that were a more welcoming space; all it needed was someone yelling NO TOUCHING.

Apologies for the hijack, I don't know a damned thing about their stock price. I hope all sixpackers make a killin' on it.
I worked for Sanderson Farms a while back in Hammond LA. We used to supply Wendy's and all the meat was breast meat. That was why it was better. The nuggets were whole pieces cut out of breast meat.

McDonald's and other nuggets were the equivalent of chicken hotdogs. Just a bunch of scraps pushed together to form a "nugget".

Not sure if Wendy's still does that or if they went cheap like everyone else.

Wendy’s still has the same nuggets.

I still prefer McDonalds nuggets. Chicken meat is chicken meat.

Then....something happened. Probably the death of Cathy. CFA started making an effort to hire folks that actually do not fit their normal employee mold. Courtesy and other things pivoted.
The sad part is I think they had to. Not enough decent people to hire from.

Went to one today. Not bad but not normal chick fil a.

You roll your eyes but there’s a future accident waiting to happen at Clinton because Hampstead goes from 4 to 3 lanes at the CFA entrance with turnoffs to SnoBiz, a strip mall, and a car wash adjacent and across from it

And then there’s the Walmart traffic too…

McDonald's made theirs "all white meat" now. And no, not the same. We did both, Wendy's had a lot more Quality Control. McDonald's had fat and pieces of tendons in it because it was going into a big vat. Working at a chicken plant will make you look at things differently.

Doing air emission testing at the metal smelter next to a Sanderson farm will too...especially when the smelter is exceeding their mercury limits and contaminating everything downwind.

That was not a fun time to consult with the smelter owner.

Back in the day a Wendy’s cheeseburger fries, a frosty and baked potato with chives some good eats along Hwy 82
The Burger King whopper flavor is still good and their chicken sandwich was legit as well but haven’t had that in about 5-6 years.
McDonald’s fries can’t be beat. Sometimes just a good ole double cheeseburger from there hits right.
Sonic #2 burger was the real deal but the last two times I tried sonic, said I’d never go back to eat there but getting a Sonic limeade or strawberry slush is still pretty dang good.

Burger King and Popeyes in Madison have something in common. About every 5-7 years I forget how bad the service is and make the mistake of going in.
You definitely have to add Wendy's and McDonald's on 51 to your list. I go back and forth between them periodically and we almost literally never leave there without me saying, "we are never coming back here". Then I inevitably forget and go back.

My position these days around here (where there is no Culver's) is that the two best true fast food places are Freddy's for burgers and shakes, and somewhat ironically, Whataburger for everything else.

A lot of times with fast food restaurants, I have to debate with myself about whether they truly declined or else I just enjoyed greasy, crappy food a lot more as I kid than I do now. You’re spot on with Wendy’s though.
It’s the latter. My kids would rather eat McDonald’s or Wendy’s than just about anywhere.

Freddy’s is the most underrated burger place out there. And they have custard ice cream.

We have a Whataburger in Hernando now and I just don’t get the appeal. It’s an average burger.

That's why I said ironically everything else. Burger is average, but their fries are really good. Breakfast burrito is a great morning option. Their Diet Cokes rank up there with CFA (except the ice is better at CFA). Chicken sandwich is not bad at all. Pro tip: drive through and get the honey butter chicken biscuit next time you've been drinking and are on the way home at midnight. LEGIT.

25 years as an adult in Texas and never have I understood the draw of whataburger. Its far too slow for what it is.
Too slow? I haven't had that problem here. Maybe because they actually make the burger when it's ordered, unlike Mickey D's and Wendy's who make them all before lunch and have them stacked under the warming lamps like pancakes.

Speaking of, Taco Bell in Madison has to have the slowest delivery time of any so-called "fast food" joint in America. I don't understand why they can't scoop the taco meat into a dorito shell and hand me that shiit in like 10 seconds.

The appeal with whataburger is when you don’t have access to one.

Their burgers remind me of Sonic burgers back in the 90s when Sonic burgers were good.

Whataburger Fries are good, I usually get the double burger with jalapenos, or their grilled chicken sandwich.
