year. I understand he can play the 4 or the 5 and is a very good player. But yes, right now Wendell might be the best because he can move his feet defensivelyand canrun up and down the floor more than three times. We need him to quit getting so many fouls because I don't see Renardo being able tohandle his own foul situation if he is going to attempt to play any type of defense at all, he simply can't move right now.

I watched our first 14 games and Bost didn't look impressive. Were you impressed with Bost's play in the first 14 games? He contributed nothing to our 8 wins, but contributed to all 6 of our losses. Where was he? Don't great players show up and help us win? He was suspended for academics. After that suspension was complete he had to serve a second suspension for the NBA paperwork issue. Benock sucks, but he shows up and gives us what he's got. I can't say that for Kodi (suspended at least once), Renardo (suspended 3 times), Ravern (suspended twice), and Bost (suspended twice). You do us no good when you get suspended.

Seeing Lewis shank 3 layups and brick a free throw today made me recall this thread.

On a more serious note, Sidney really does have the potential to be completely unstoppable down low. He abused Florida's big men a couple of times when they tried to guard him one on one.

Lewis has shown drastic improvement, actually knows where to be on the court, can use his size well, and seems to be mentally sound.

However,

He shoots layups as if he's secretly wearing a straight jacket, and his free throw percentage is around 25%

He has improved from last year, and I think he'll be a solid contributor for the next 2 years, but he still has a ways to go. He has the athleticism and size though.

As for Sidney, he can pretty much do what he wants to on the offensive end. You just don't see big guys with a midrange jumper like his very often. Honestly, he could be one of the most offensively talented big men in college in a while. When he wants ti be.

Without Dee on the court our team is lost. A lot times we look lost when he is on the court but it only gets worse when he is on the bench. Dee is the only person that keeps our team running. I wanted to personally punch Stansbury in the first half for that two minute stretch with the lineup of Bryant, Steele, Shaun Smith, Wendell, and Sidney. What a terrible two minutes that was

I'm almost 40 and Idecided a long time ago that I will not worship at the altar of the knucklehead. I prefer Tim Duncan to Ron Artest. I don't care much for Terrell Owens or Ochocinco. Ithink OJ Simpson is a murderer. I think Allen Iverson should work hard in practice. I don't think Latrell Sprewell should choke his coach. I think Ben Roethisberger should stay away from 19-year-old chicks.

Let's think about this team. Our team captain fought in the stands on national TV, was suspended, and then quit the team. Four of our five starters have served suspensions. Three of our five starters have been suspended more than once. Our player with NBA lottery potential has served 3 suspensions already this season. On top of that he is out of shape and flipped the bird to anopponents' fans. Our leader, point guard, andplayer recognized as being our best has been suspended twice thisseason for a total of 14 games. Let all of these statistics sink in.

If I presented that scenario to people whoknow more about coaching than you andI (let's assume Bobby Knight, Dean Smith, and Mike Krzyzewski), I assure you that they would say "you aren't going towin many games with that group".

Anyone with half a brain cell can see that Self is a better coach than Stansbury but when you have a team full of 5 star recruits and McD's AAs most coaches would look pretty good so it makes it hard to really tell if it is the coaching or the talent disparity.

If you watch Gonzaga, Butler, St. Mary's, BYU, or San Diego State play then the contrast in coaching is even more evident.

We will find out on Wednesday vs Bama's Green... Let's hope Bost and the RSS both come back next year...

that it's desirable that our teams' players reflect positively on the institution. But you have to be a Bobby Knight, Mike Krzyzewski, or Dean Smith in order to bring in a full team of squeaky clean players that can win more than ten games in a season; simply because there aren't that many to be had in this day and age, and the North Carolinas and Dukes have their pick of them.

As for Wendell Lewis, I don't think many agree that he's our best post player, but he's not as terrible as some are saying either. He misses layups like the one in yesterday's game, he can't create his own shots, and he checks out mentally on defense sometimes. But he's also improving by leaps and bounds offensively (last year he missed EVERY layup like the previously mentioned one), he's a rebounding machine, and he shows flashes of freakish athleticism. In a year or two he could be our best post player, but right now he's not.
