We're 12-10. At this point last year, we were 11-11.....

Maybe things aren't as bad as we thought they were. A series sweep against Auburn, a beatdown of UA-Tuscaloosa, and we're looking at hosting a Superregional.

I can't tell if you are joking, but hosting a super is out. Hosting a regional is an extreme long shot.

Yeah I believe this series is going to get a lot of fans hopes up, but this Auburn team isn't very far above .500. We make the post season, but unless we somehow win the SECT, we aint hosting much less a national seed. Waaaaaay too many deserving teams out there this year.

Our rpi last year was also really good. This year not so much due to stupid non conference losses early on.

We would have to finish the sweep today and win the next two series. That would put us at 35-20 (18-12 SEC). That would at least give us something to play for going into Hoover. We would probably be on the outside looking in at hosting a regional. Our out if conference woes have nearly killed that scenario. Getting a top 4 SEC seed and a bye in Hoover would actually hurt us because it's one less opportunity at winning a game and improving our RPI.

Based on past experience, the results in Hoover probably will have very little bearing, at best, as to whether or not we host... which is another strong argument as to why conference tournaments are a waste of time. I think to get back on the hosting bubble, we have to completely win out the regular season. There are 2 things holding us back more than anything:

- A home loss to Holy Cross (1 win really would have made all the difference... I knew that one additional loss would bite us hard... no reason to lose to that ****** a team at home twice)
- A home loss late in the season to Jacksonville State... another sub-100 RPI home loss

With different outcomes in those key games, we are looking at an entirely different scenario right now in terms of hosting.

We're playing better on the road. Perhaps we are better off not hosting anything.

I hate to say this but all the fans that jump back on the bandwagon at this point deserve to get beat down again by this team.

Right and you're the same person who said Auburn would sweep us. Never did jump off the bandwagon so no need to jump back on. Will we host a regional, doubt it. We've had a somewhat disappointing year but will still be in a regional and who knows what can happen after that. Hopefully you're not wanting on the "bandwagon" there's no room.

Just because he picked us to get swept doesn't mean he hoped we would lose. I picked us to get swept... and I did because we lost 2 of 3 at home to a TAMU team we should have taken 2 of 3 from and then followed that up with a humiliating 2-1 loss to a sub-100 JSU team. People are disappointed because we thought after last year, plus several humiliating defeats this year that we'd turn a corner and to this point, we haven't. I hope the JSU loss lights a fire under our *** because we need it. This team has too much talent to fall out of the tournament as a 3 seed to directional Kentucky or a small religious college.

A series win (and hopefully a sweep) of Auburn and a sweep next weekend against Tennessee will make things very interesting in terms of us being a possible host. We will need some help, but that's not completely out of the question.

Then you were also wrong.

Is it a great accomplishment to either win or sweep this series, no. Is it helpful, without a doubt. Personally I never expected this team to get back to the CWS, they had lost to much and had to many unproven players to take up the slack. Figured they would host a regional again so from that aspect and some of the losses this team has is a little disappointing. Does that mean it's time to "jump off the bandwagon" hell no and if anyone thinks it is then obviously that shows a lack of support for this program and minimal knowledge about the game. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but after a while you get tired of reading the poor mouthing of a team, players or coach. Suck it up learn to take the good with the bad.

Hoover results do matter, but I believe that they pick the regional hosts prior to the completion of the SEC tournament. I remember seeing the hosts results on twitter while watching us play Vanderbilt for the title two years ago. The only chance is to win the remainder of our SEC games. I'm not saying that it's impossible, but it's highly unlikely. Today is a coin flip with our Sunday woes. Woody was tossing in the bullpen yesterday during our game so that tells me we will start Brown or Bracewell today. Hopefully Preston is a little more sharp today than last Sunday when he was thrown to the wolves.

This is true. We were the favorite in every game at the start of the season up until LSU. We just look horrible in front of home crowds. After last season teams should have been shitting themselves in the visitor's dugout at DNF with the thought of having to play this State team. Instead we made them all look exceptional.

Even that would really just put us on par with 2013 Arkansas. 18-11 and 2-1 in Hoover against Ole Miss, LSU, LSU.

We have to get to 19-11 or maybe even 20-10 to host. Unlikely. A successful finish at this point for me would be 18-12 and 3rd or 4th in the league so we don't waste our arms in Hoover.

If we stick with Mitchell as a Game 2 starter we're set up pretty well for Hoover and a regional, considering how mediocre we are overall.

It looks like UL, LSU, and OM are going to host. Will the fact that there might

be three hosts in two states make the committee lean against giving one to State?

Last year heading to Hoover, our RPI was 10 and our SOS was 33. This year, our RPI is 38 and our SOS is 52. At this late stage in the season, even a sweep of our remaining games won't change either of these to any substantial degree. What it would do, however, is give us an excellent record in our last 15 games of the season, which does carry considerable weight in determining regional seeding and placement. I don't think there is much hope of hosting this year since there are too many higher ranked programs (who will submit bids) in close proximity.

The reason we won't host won't have anything to do with 3 teams in MS and LA already hosting. It'll strictly be our RPI. And it won't be anywhere near where it needs to be for us to get any real consideration to host.
