This team has approximately 10-12 Power 5 recruited players, and they’re “only” #95?! Sorry, but no way there are 94 teams better than this one! I know power 5 means nothing, but this team HAS PROVEN championship moxie. The biggest “question mark” is the new QB,and he holds offers from 5 Power 5 schools, including NDame. If that’s the biggest question....LOOK OUT!

Not sure I understand the ranking,but...expect it to climb!

These rankings seem to center around having 4 & 5 Star recruits and having All Americans on the roster in order to get within the preseason top 25.

HSHS is very likely under rated IMHO. BUT, their schedule is in the right direction. Next, level will be to schedule those DC/MD powers. Get a season opener on ESPN, etc.

All you can do, is keep winning.

HS is going to have to schedule and beat highly ranked teams from out of state if they want to be highly ranked themselves. The beatdowns that Oscar Smith took against big-time opposition, as well as Centreville losing to Gonzaga, have made it tough for Virginia teams to rise high in the rankings.

Unless you're in contention to be ranked #1, does anyone really care? Is being ranked #42 on some guy's website a big deal compared to winning championships?

There is another way you can look at numbers like this one (#95). I understand there are over 17,000 High Schools in America. Just use the number 17,000...
If HSHS is ranked 95th out of 17,000 schools (assuming they all have football). 95/17000 = .00558.
So with that, we would rank within the top 1% in the Country, Not too shabby!
Got to look at the positive here!

I agree with with everything you said and I also agree with the other poster in that i doubt there are 94 teams in the county better than HS. With OS not doing well oos and Westfield being overmatched in scrimmages with the DC area privates, it's nearly impossible to accurately rank HS without reference points.

I think this is the real question, "Unless you're in contention to be ranked #1, does anyone really care? Is being ranked #42 on some guy's website a big deal compared to winning championships?"
Is it worth it? For a team "program" like Highland Springs, money to play multiple OOS powers, would cost $$$. Henrico County does not fund travel to far away (out of state) places... HSHS is able to raise enough money to make ends meet and to take an occasional jaunt to a far away place to play, but to chase a dream for a mythical title or a lofty ranking can get down right expensive!!! You have to understand, Eastern Henrico is not Fairfax or Loudoun County! Not even the West End!!! Some parents can afford this at HS, but there are a lot that just can't do it. This year and next year, they have some travel plans. Can they afford to expand the distance? I really don't know. My gut feeling tells me that money is tight over there! Highland Springs is very fortunate to have the Staff and support of the community that has brought them to this level!
Grades, winning championships and sending these kids to college is their #1 priority. Chasing a mythical or a scrutinized ranking? Money raised, I think, is being used wisely... They wanted to beef up the competition this year and next. I really don't think they are trying to win a mythical National Championship! They already have gotten respect.
