We're laying blame on the wrong people for the Auburn loss

I've seen everyone blamed on this message board. Chizik for selling his soul to the devil and being Les Milesesque in his "horseshoe up his ***" luckiness. The refs for the bad calls. Our defense. Our offense. Our coaches. Some dubmass even blamed MSU's fanbase, which I'm still trying to figure out. Yes, everyone has been blamed. Everyone that is, except the true culprit: The Utah State University Aggies.

Think about it. Auburn's players and fans all came out with chips on their shoulders. They were emabarrassed a week earlier. Dropped from the rankings. Not favored at home by anyoneagainst MSU.They jump on us 14-0 in the first few minutes of the game. They had something to prove . . . because of Utah 17ing State.

If Utah State had just been the little bitches they should have been, and gotten their asses handed to them at Auburn to open the season and taken their check, said, "Thank you, sir, may I have another?" and gone their asses on their happy way back to wherever the 17 Utah State is, then Auburn might have been slightly favored against MSU, they would have been more highly ranked than us, and they certainly wouldn't have had as much to prove or so much emotion. We wouldn't have spotted them 14, and we'd most likely be sitting at 2-0 right now, 1-0 in the SEC for the first time in 12 years.

I think State now has an unlikely rival--one whom we'veprobably never even played.

17 Utah State.

Our defense sucks and will cost us some games this year. Frankly I hope Mullen isn't patient with Wilson. He appears to be incompetent at best.

getting a feel for his team. Memphis wasn`t enough competition to expose some things thatthe coaches had to learn against Auburn after it was too late.

would have literally changed the game. He would have covered the field and made those tackles on the corners. We are missing one or 2 big playmakers on defense. The sad thing is that we just didnt adjust like we needed to. We were not in the bakfield and our linebackers once again got sucked in and couldnt shed blocks. Maye cant cut it in the SEC.

Auburn was Week 1 for us. We got little out of the Memphis game as far as identifying weak areas. I expect significant improvement in our weak areas this Thursday night now that it's clear where they are.

Everyone told the dogs (football team) how great they were this year. Everybody.

And what chumpsthey were, because they took the bait hook line and sinker - They believed all of it. And in five minutes Auburn had the dogs in a hole they could not get out of. Yet they almost did. And then Mullen let Relf call the play with 18 seconds left. He had been in the shotgun all day and he took the snap from under center.

One pass and one run from the shotgun? who knows? certainly not me, but we were real chumps. I do know that.

Won't be nearly as easy against LSU. I hope they understand they must play teh very best game they have ever played Thursday night. With our team, it will take that to keep LSU from laying 40 on us before we score.

That's an excellent perspective, and as I was driving down to Auburn, listening to their radio pregame shows, I feared their attitude.

That, and their homers kept saying, "Hey, it's Mississippi State. We're gonna win!"

Their fans were kind and friendly, at least the ones I encountered....not the d-bags in other venues.

Still, that game stung as hard as the Jordan-Hare hornet/wasp which blistered my thumb about 5 mins into the game, just after we went down by 2 TDs. A pisser, that.
