on how LSU views Barlow. LSU has Austin Nola at SS, and he was just a Fr. last year, I believe. I don't know where they view Cecheeni playing- I'm guessing it could be SS or third.
I'm hoping- maybe falsely- that we can convince Luke Maddox to stay, that Prep's coach will be impressed with what Cohen's got going on and that his buddy Taylor Stark can help talk him into going to State.
CONSPIRACY THEORY TIME!!!!
I will say this- I kind of find it odd that Maddox is going up to State with his baseball coach. And some background info on Maddox- his brother walked on at Ole Miss, and supposedly quit because he felt like he wasn't given a fair shot. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Maddox goes up there with Box and Maddox tries to get some scholarship money in an effort to get a more fair shot and Box, who is from Columbus, tries to get an inside track on an assistant coaching job at MSU in the future if they can help steer Barlow to MSU.
If my theory is true, I'm glad we have Cohen handling this, because he has a better chance of pulling this off than Polk ever would have. I have no doubt that Polk would have <17> it up royally. I can just hear, aw gee, Chuck, ya know Greg Drye does a really good job, we couldn't fire him for a 5-tool player. We don't do that here. You'll have to send Kaleb to Ole Miss.
And if you think high school coaches don't try to do stuff like this- exhibit A is former Madison Central HC Mike Rosamond. He tried to get an assistant job with Ole Miss, but it got snuffed out when Pat Harrison got fired.
And if my theory is true, it still doesn't mean that Barlow will or won't go to State.
