interview excerpt from 24/7:

Rea came through with a two-run single to left field to give the Dawgs a 2-0 lead.

"I just want to say 'thank you' and it feels good to be asked to get interviewed again," said Rea with a big smile. "I know it's been a while."

Rea finished the night with two hits and two RBIs and noted his recent shoulder ailment was feeling much better. Earlier in the day Rea said the doctors discovered a knot in his shoulder that was causing spasms to nerves. Thanks to a shot, Rea said the knot was no longer there and he discovered his swing again.

"I've hit a couple of balls like I hit that just haven't gone through," said Rea of his two-run single. "Actually the line drive to center in my (first at-bat) I felt like my swing was back again. So it feels good."

This bodes well for us going forward...

When he squared up that curveball with two strikes, I hoped that was an indication that the was back to being focused on the ball and not just wildly hacking. Turns out, he was. Big night for him.

tonight. Mitch Slauter and Trey Porter had good games too. We only struck out four times tonight, and neither Frazier nor did Renfroe have a really good game.

That's encouraging.

And Sam Frost's safety squeeze was about as well executed as you could do it. Heck of a call by the coaches on that one.

I could literally hear it in Slauter's voice during his pregame interview and even posted about it here.

His confidence is no doubt peaking at the right time. Hitting can be contagious. Let's hope it filters down right now...

Nature of the game, especially when you have dominant pitching keeping you in games against more talented teams.

We've lost a bunch of close ones, but we've won a TON of close ones as well. The point being, it equals out. For every time we didn't get the big winning hit, we didn't give it up either.

We're right about where we deserve to be, IMO. A good team that's close(read, a year away from) to being a fairly dominant team...assuming things go right in the off-season. AKA we only lose Stratton, Reed, and(probably) Routt on the hill and Brownlee in the field...and our talented young pitchers go to the Cape and develop on schedule in the offseason.

They're also 8 hits away from a much worse season. We're about where we deserve to be.

probably about 95 of them on this board. I was great execution on the part of Frost however.

...for a good part of the year. You're like the reverse-Todd. Every time you see a baseball thread, you think it's your duty to go piss all over the team. It's gettin old, captain.

Our luck has been about 50/50, we win and lose close games fairly evenly. The only thing that's really hurt us has been injuries.
