and Croom probably did keep him down. He certainly didn't make him a better QB.
The funny thing is, he didn't want to learn a new offense here at State - so he left - yet he had to learn a new offense at FIU. The spread option/read like we ran last year!

I honestly believe the guy had potential. He was the lone reason we won the Liberty Bowl. I had a buddy(fb player) that was next to Croom when Carrol came up and he said that Carrol told Croom "Lemme run the option; I'll get a touchdown." Assuming that's true, that makes Carrol pretty bad ***; he just regressed severely when given an offseason with Woody.
was Croom unnecessarily creating a QB controversey between Carroll and Tyson Lee. I think that really hurt Carroll's development a lot as well. I think Croom gave him some mixed signals by taking him to media days and then playing both.
I think what happened to was Woody probably wanted Carroll to run less in general- as in scramble less- and I think that kind of took Carroll out of his game so to speak as well.
