SUPPOSED TO SAY WEEK 5, I can't edit the subject title. Sorry.

Games of the week..
Gold
Addison Trail (2-2) vs Leyden (2-2)
Glenbard West (4-0) @ Lyons (4-0)

AT vs Leyden is the GOTW by default, not many big time match ups this week in the gold. I think AT beats them by a couple of TD's. Leyden is tough and scrappy but I think AT kind of sticks it to them this week.

GBW @ Lyons...I don't think LT is as good as their 4-0 record. They barely beat Morton and they barely beat Leyden, I think GBW wins by at least 3 TD's. No offense to LT, don't be offended. If anything, I'm giving you bulletin board material so you're welcome.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm 13-1 in my predictions but I'm not padding myself on the back....yet.

Gold
Addison Trail (2-2) - 28 vs Leyden (2-2) - 7
Hinsdale South (2-2) - 49 vs Proviso East (0-4) - 7
Downers Grove South (1-3) - 35 vs Morton (1-3) - 28

Silver
Glenbard West (4-0) - 28 vs Lyons (4-0) - 7
Oak Park (4-0) - 35 vs Downers Grove North (2-2) - 7
Hinsdale Central (4-0) - 49 vs Proviso West (0-4) - 0

Crossover
Willowbrook (2-2) - 28 vs York (1-3) - 14
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm standing firm on DGS winning out and going 6-3 to make the playoffs. I believe Hinsdale South will finish 6-3 with a loss to Hinsdale Central. I think AT will finish 5-4 with losses to Hinsdale South & Glenbard West. Willowbrook will finish 6-3 with a loss to DGS. I think the Gold gets 5 playoff teams this year. AT should barely get in with enough playoff points....I think.

The Silver is tough to call right now...GBW, HC and OPRF and about to enter a battle royal. I'm going to wait another week to predict how they finish. OPRF is a sleeper right now, kind of. I'm thinking the Silver has 4 playoffs teams this year...HC, GBW, OPRF, Lyons. I'm predicting 9 playoff teams from the West Suburban this year. We shall see.

These are all pretty safe bets. My only thought is that GW may put more than 4 scores on LT. West O is clicking and LT hasn't seen anything like what they will see on Saturday. LT D is usually pretty stout, but my gut says West really pulls away while LT preps for their dance. O/U on West points is 35

I also think you are being kind to DGN. ORPF could put 50 on them. Only thing to stop that is the running clock and heavy substitution likely.

I guess I will become a big DGS fan now. Looking at the sched, they could win out with WB and Leyden as only two match ups that will be close.

If DGS does qualify, GW would be fairly certain to stay 7A and avoid the greatest high school sports team ever assembled in any sport (Homer-Flosswood). I'll wait until after the next three weeks to even suggest we could stay on the field with GHSSTEA in 8A.

Some pretty bad games across many conferences this week, including these. Ouch, I see running clock in a few, straight blowouts in others.

There are like four good games in the area this weekend. Seems crazy that there aren't more, but maybe there is just a wide gap between the haves and have nots.

Almost as wide as the gap b/w MC, Homer-Flosswood and the "rest"

For a newcomer, you are doing quite well with the sandbagging, @capnbillhitters.

I was around the last couple of years under the name capsamhitters or something like that. I failed to remember the password or somehow got frustrated with Yahoo sign up stuff so I ended up starting over.

So yeah, I understand the value of properly placed sand bags in this place to avoid looking like a too much of a jag.

I was 3-3 last week. Not good. Leyden was the big disappointment for me, with the 3 point loss to LT, rather than a 7 point win. HS is headed for a 4-5 season if they can't pull out of their dive.

GW looked like they resolved their offense problems, with a fast start against DGN last week in the pouring rain. If that is true, they will be ready for anyone and everyone through Thanksgiving weekend. Here are my picks for week 5: OPRF by 35, HC by 49, Willowbrook by 3, HS by 14, Leyden by 7, DGS by 14, and GW by 42. The big dogs (GW, OPRF, and HC) should be tuned up and ready to rumble after this week.

my thoughts exactly when it comes to HS, if they don't get it together they can easily go 4-5 and miss the dance.

I'm going to check out the York @ Willowbrook game on Friday night. Both teams HAVE to have this win, neither are going to win a state championship but it should be a good game.

I missed the Willowbrook/South game last week so I wanna see if Willowbrook is legit. York has a new coach this year. It'll probably take them 2-3 years to get it going where they need to be.

This is high praise coming from mchs. He's in the Edgytim Sandbagging Hall of Fame. His sandbagging exploits are only slightly exceeded by the original HOF member, Bones.

Standing on the shoulders of giants, am I.

I stopped by to watch The Dukes last Saturday against HC. They were asleep for the first qtr, when I left to see how OPRF and PW were doing in their game. Based on Yorks effort last Saturday, I'm giving Willowbrook a slight edge. Hope York can prove me wrong..
