Gold
Willowbrook (5-3) vs Leyden (3-5) - Spread Willowbrook -3.5
Hinsdale South (5-3) vs Morton (3-5) - Spread Hinsdale South -12.5
I'm going with 2 GOTW's this week, both games are tied to each other. Here are the scenario's:
-If Willowbrook wins and Hinsdale loses (which won't happen), they are conference champs and make the playoffs.
-If Hinsdale South wins and Willowbrook loses then Hinsdale South is conference champs and makes the playoffs.
-If both teams win, both teams make the playoffs and are "Co-Champs" for the conference, but Willowbrook beat South so they are really the conference champs.
-If both teams lose then.....God help us all.

I think South comes out puts Morton to bed quickly. I personally think the loss to Willowbrook this season was the best thing that happened to them. They've been on a roll since them, steamrolling the teams they have played, outscoring them 112-21. Granted the teams weren't playoff teams but they did what needed to be done. I also think the losses to GBW and HC were also blessings in disguise. They stood toe to toe with the top team in 7A and one of the top teams in 8A. Reminder, Hinsdale South is a 6A school.

I also think Willowbrook comes out and wins against Leyden. It'll be a close game though, Leyden is no slouch. Willowbrook has the better team IMO.

Hinsdale Central (7-1) vs Oak Park (7-1) - Spread Hinsdale Central -5.5
Both teams have clinched for the playoffs and both teams can't win conference. This is still a big game, high seeding counts big time in 8A. I personally think HC runs away with this game, OPRF is a good team but I just think HC is a lot better team. Bobak & The Boys up front pound away, chew clock, limit their passes and win easily in this game.

I believe they only have 25 playoff points now, so if they were to lose it would seem likely they would be too low on points.

I like Leyden in an upset keeping willowbrook out of the playoffs. call me crazy but I see the PE/DGS game closer, both teams are down but DGS struggles with athletic teams.

I can't find a flaw in any of your picks.

Over under on rushing yards by HC will be 300.

Watched film on AT and really can't see how they score on GW. I think PW would beat AT right now.

On paper, I like Leyden as well. However, Willowbrook has won I think 2 games on last second plays to pull victory from the jaws of defeat. On top of that, they had the improbable win over HS. This may just be their year.

Yeah, I've gone against them the last 2 weeks and they've won so I'm going to jinx them and pick them to win so South can win Conference outright for the first time since 2005.

Hinsdale Central??????? Looks like Hinsdale South gave OPRF the blue print. I hear Allen is suspended the first playoff game for swinging at a kid, allegedly.

HInsdale South TCB'd last night, McCormack with another 4 TD's. They won the Gold because Willowbrook lost to Leyden. I put the jinx on them.

York taking down Lyons is a little bit of a surprise. Good for York, 4-5, first year head coach.

DGN gets in the playoffs, what an up and down season for them. Win first 2, lose next 4, win last 3.

South game was over as soon as it started.

HC better find some defense fast. Otherwise, a short run in the playoffs.

Funny thing about HC, knowone made any adjustments in the polls for HC after nearly losing to HS in OT while giving up 35 points and 500+ yards. That should have been a red flag, but most polsters (Daily Herald, Trib, Suntimes) acted like that did not happen. I thought that to be a bit strange..

Yeah, I was at the game last night. How about Ravon Johnson? Just silky smooth. Tied the school record for 10 receiving TD's. McCormack also tied the school record with 24 passing TD's. Thats pretty cool, good for those kids.

They are rewriting the receiving and passing records at HS....

Robert Hall:
most catches one game -13 and he's 3 catches shy of breaking most receptions in one season - 49

Ravon Johnson:
most career TD receptions - 16
Single season TD receptions - 10

Sean McCormack:
Most passing yds in one game - 459
Passing yds in one season - 2153
Most completions in one season - 129
Most TD passes in one season - 23
Most TD passes in career - 25

What a weekend. First, I was really happy to see Hetlett play so many kids in the second half against AT. GW is ready for the playoffs. However, please stop with the holding penalties. Please.

The big surprise was HC. Well, and OPRF. First HC. I'm not sure what is going on there, but they seem to have lost their composure the last few weeks. That's a sign of trouble, and with their starting center on the sidelines for game 1, they seem to be less a threat than they were just 4 weeks ago. How do you go from leading HS in the second half, to registering 2 losses by year end. It's clearly a negative trend that doesn't speak well about the program.

OPRF, on the other hand, has a positive trend going into the playoffs. If they are turning hot, they will be a force in 8A. I like OPRF, and hope the best for their program..

Now the fun begins !
