--Good win on Saturday, it was a tough hard-fought win over a well-coached Baylor team. Defensively they played at a very high level and flied around. They were really good down in the red zone. Special teams were just O.K., while the offense struggled. It was a big win and a program win and they found a way to win that game when they weren’t able to do that last year.
--This week they will iron out the areas of focus today. It will be a more traditional bye week with less good on good work. They played almost 180 snaps over the last two games on offense and don’t have a lot of depth on defense so they want to focus on short concise practices and keeping their guys healthy. It won’t be nearly as physical this time as it was the first time.
--Brown said since Saturday post-game they’ve tried to stay apart and they tested yesterday. At the facility they’ve done a really good job of mitigating, mask wearing, social distancing and all the things they can do to be safe when it comes to the virus. Until Tuesday they won’t get together until late.
--There is nothing about the last seven or eight months that has been easy.
--Oklahoma State had success running the football so they didn’t drop back and pass it much. They slowed it down and ran the football. West Virginia played a reduced box against Oklahoma State, they didn’t do that against Baylor. The Mountaineers played better and were able to fit runs while also winning some one-on-one matchups which didn’t happen against the Cowboys.
--Brown doesn’t seem the identity of his team taking shape yet. He does on defense but the other two phases simply have to get better.
--Brown doesn’t pay much attention to the Big 12’s perception nationally. To think that everybody doesn’t have issues is incorrect. Nobody has an off-season so it’s hard to form discipline and chemistry. At the end of the year, he believes the Big 12 will be in a good spot and will continue to improve.
