By my count that's the 3rd FB player to hit the portal. 2 Walk ons, Blair and Wakefield. Now Mayo. Was James Thomas a Portal entry?

you need to get used to seeing multiple players hit the portal each year. Michigan has probably had 5 or 6 so far. It's the modern day era, where if you're not getting playing time as a freshman or sophomore, players are no longer patient in regard to waiting their time, and they end up bailing out.

If you go to a college to play college football, and you end up riding the pine, with only just a few years to play, most people are going to try to find a place that will let them play.

Coaches can leave and coach somewhere else right away, and they are paid handsomely both places, can't fault any player looking out for their own best interest as well--everyone else does.

Well we either need the portal to close or open up the recruiting numbers to match the losses.

Yes! I think the 25 player per class max, needs to be adaptive. If you lose 5 players to the portal, you should be able to add 5 players to this or next years class. Im fine with players transferring, unless I was playing for my home-state school, I understand wanting to get actual playing time, as thats the only way to get better as a player and potentially make it to the league. I just think the NCAA needs to adopt a more flexible policy, one that will allow coaches to replace losses. Which I think is logical & common sense...
