I agree with it being 3 but I don't agree with the stall unless it's called when he kicks outHow is that not a takedown for Ryder?
Ryder wins 2 to 1 but very unimpressive. I did not see him get control of the 2nd leg. Dang it seemed Like a Doucet match from the past. How is that not a takedown for Ryder?
They're not in post season shape that's for sure. Luckily it's only December.Oklahoma st conditioning isn't great as a team . I noticed it at the Cougar Clash
I was wrong the Merrill match was a Doucet match from the past to win by riding time. It is a win but we are not able to score. We have 4 out of 8 matches that we could not score in the 1st period.Ryder wins 2 to 1 but very unimpressive. I did not see him get control of the 2nd leg. It is a different Doucet, he scores a lot in the 1st period, and he gets the pin. He wrestled another back up.I was wrong the Merrill match was a Doucet match from the past to win by riding time. I think that Robideau has the best chance to win a title this year, but Spratley has a chance.I thought Spartley was the best chance for a title and I still think that
Landon is the best wrestler on the team by far. He would have beaten Waters. The difference is his pace. All of the super elite guys have that type of all-out pace that wears people down. He is it.Landon dominated for the tech
Notably Swiderski and Lockett.Oklahoma st conditioning isn't great as a team . I noticed it at the Cougar Clash
Other than Spratley and Doucet and Facundo we looked sluggish in every match. Even Roubideau did not look sharp in his tech fall victory over a backup. Ramirez was out-horsed. Swiderski ridden for two straight periods, Ryder and Merrill made very few moves toward a takedown and this against a team that lost Friday night to North Carolina 27-7. 33-3 score deceptive as they had 4 starters out of the lineup. Ryder has shown one move all season and this is an underhook to a swing single.I hate to sound this negative and the last two matches did get my juices flowing a little but right now we are far from a dominant team and a finish in the top five at Nationals is looking dimmer. I guess you can start calling me Harley.I think that Robideau has the best chance to win a title this year, but Spratley has a chance.
Can he win I think so. I still think Spratley has the best chance. 157 will get Meyer back at semester as well. 125 is wide openI think that Robideau has the best chance to win a title this year, but Spratley has a chance.
It ain't yet time to peak.Oklahoma st conditioning isn't great as a team . I noticed it at the Cougar Clash
I could see that I also wouldn't count Taylor out yet or Meyer. Watters length and top game is also a threatI agree sparky has a better chance at 125 than Landon @157. I could see a Duke, Landon final with duke coming out on top.
No disrespect but I hate this excuse. Guys who struggle with conditioning now will struggle in March. I've never seen an exception. Sure maybe they will get in better shape but it's almost always a weakness. It ain't yet time to peak.![]()
I don't think the team looking slugish has anything to do with conditioning. More likely just the phase of training they are in.No disrespect but I hate this excuse. You've never peaked for an athletic event? No disrespect but I hate this excuse.
Of course. But do you understand when you start lower your peak is often lower? There is only so much you can do between now and then. Why are we making excuses for guys gassing in the third period? It's only a few. Can you give me some examples of wrestlers who were struggling with conditioning in December and then had massive gas tanks in March? I can't. Usually see them go from bad to okay. Good go to great. We all know who will and won't be in great shape in the postseason tournaments. You've never peaked for an athletic event?
Carl PerryCan you give me some examples of wrestlers who were struggling with conditioning in December and then had massive gas tanks in March?
Johnny Thompson, Jake Rosholt, Johny Hendricks. Coleman Scott was much better in March than December.Of course. But do you understand when you start lower your peak is often lower? LOL, these guys were all monsters. But you are absolutely right on Rosholt. That is the very best example. But IMHO these are the rare exceptions. We shall see.Johnny Thompson, Jake Rosholt, Johny Hendricks. Coleman Scott was much better in March than December.
100%, enjoy your take for like a decade. You are not a rookie!Of course. But do you understand when you start lower your peak is often lower? There is only so much you can do between now and then. Think he was wrestling the dude that injured his opponent Friday with that same shoulder crank. It’s nastySwiderski looked aggressive on his feet but couldn't get off bottom against their backup
I thought Spartley was the best chance for a title and I still think that

So something that you are spot on about is how we really stepped up in the NCAA tournament. I thought we over-performed for the first time in a long time so what this staff is doing is absolutely working. I will shut up about it. I will positively praise the guys who already look like they're in great shape - Robideau and Spratley stand out. Doucet looks really good as well.100%, enjoy your take for like a decade. But, I’m not concerned about some of the “gas tank” issues, some I see eye to eye.
I know they are in a very, very well planned system that puts the tank on empty the day OF a dual in some cases. I have total confidence that March will look different. It did last year.
Tagen, Cam and Fish seemed to cause some concern all the way to Feb. We were worried about Wyatt due to his lack of gas tank proof due to decking people.
It was a good March, we were concerned. John was a goat and was successful based on testicular fortitude. This staff is super calculating and meticulous with the plans they develop for these guys.
Wrestling is the new sweet science!
Hopefully my sarcasm meter is working? So something that you are spot on about is how we really stepped up in the NCAA tournament. Also I need to stop always assuming gassing out means being in terrible shape means being lazy. Some people just have a higher cardiovascular capacity.
I don't mean to be so negative about it. I just think "dang if they're already this good - how much better could they be if they were in elite shape?"
