2 teams from the same conference in the western regional finals is pretty good. For the locals that are not fans of those teams, it is going to be hard to pick between which game to go to. Maiden has a long way to travel to face the #1 seed. Good luck.

This is the hardest week to pick anybody.

Hickory- A coin flip pick just about. Crest can play. They all can.

Maiden- more battle tested, they got this. Course thats what everybody said bout the Hibriten game even the radio guys said it lol.

Shelby- Its Shelby. They turn on a new gear during the playoffs. Not wanting them to win though but just my shoot from the hip prediction


Life is full of coulda woulda shouldas'. Shoulda went to watch the Maiden game last week and STILL coulda caught Watauga the next friday. Maiden and Hickory oughta get them on schedule, big action, good gate sale.

Going to interesting week. Unless forecast changes I’m seeing 80% chance of rain Friday and highs in upper 30’s. It could be challenging night of playing football in the weather and how the players perform. Let’s just hope no rain. Watauga could see wintery type with snow in it.

In looking at the big Devil, everything about him looks ferocious. He has horns, fangs, an angry brow and more wrinkles than I’ve got. Well, maybe not quite as many, but he has what appears to be manicured fingernails. Just thought it was strange. Maybe he’s trying to make a statement about plurality. Uh, not that there’s more than one Blue Devil, though.

I’m hoping we see a carbon copy of today where the rain starts out early and stops by midday. From 36 weather news source some places could get a wintery mix early Friday then change to rain. Hopefully by kickoff time the rain will have moved out.

Just saw maybe decent chance snow for Friday. How much yet to be determined and where you live. One news source is giving Iredell 50% of measureable snow meaning .01 or more and further you North you go a bigger chance. So stock up on your bread n milk. lol

I wonder if it’s fear, nervousness, or quiet confidence. Either way, I thought there would be more talk about where each team has an advantage and why each team thinks they’ll win. Maybe everyone is more worried about the weather than the game itself.

Weather isn't a factor I believe. If it is, it isn't for the Maiden group. Mountain boys believe it's their type of weather so they're probably not worried either.

These teams are very similar. Sound schemes, do a lot on offense, really good defenses. Both need to stop the opposing RB and WR1. Both QBs don't run a ton but they can. The ability to stifle either WR1 will be huge. Both of these kids are homerun hitters.

I'm sure Both teams feel confident.

Brevard has to clean up tackling. Maiden has to clean up penalties.

Biggest battle of the night in my opinion is Maiden's turnover/sack production VS Brevard's "Big Play" ability on offense.

Second half adjustments will be big...and in game on the fly adjustments will be big (the hardest to make once the bullets start flying).

Coaches will have to manage emotion and focus. Can't let the lights be too bright or the moment too big.

I expect a battle till the end. Similar to the only time these two schools have ever met in 2005.

I understand...my wife and I have paid for plans tonight with the youngins...but we would have canceled if game was moved.
