Bunker hill over Saint Stephen's but I really feel this could be an upset game. I think Saint is sneaky this year.
Newton over Polk. I'm torn on this game did Polk RB get 234 yards because chase sucks. Did Newton win a mirage game, because Alexander is known to lay a random egg of a game. Bazzle power .
West iredell over North.
Foard for 3 straight. East got zero against West. So looks like they should of been nicer to minor.
Hickory takes out some anger on Alexander.
I'm going with ponies over Providence. Everything says 8a should win. But the team they beat last week 35-0 went 0-10 last year.
Lincolnton over North. Speed kills and those corners don't mind tackling RB's lol.
Maiden rides the rockets to hell . AC game last week was a mirage. They're better than that Brevard score. It was a game where everything went wrong and snowballed from there.

Good picks, ought to be really good game with Maiden and ACR. With Maiden keeping it real close with the Ltown gang I'm sure North has alot to worry about with alot to prove. This will be the one to gage Norths season on for sure. Norths JV's of last year take up over 75% of this years roster without a doubt so nice to see improvement on what I was told was not a promising season for them last year.

His son is the coach, Matt Wilson. From what I understand he is helping out in the box and consulting. I can’t think of a better coach to have as a consultant. I think it is nothing but positive for a program looking to turn itself around.

Bazzle lead the Red Devils from 1999-2011. Maiden lead in that time frame 9-7-0 with a majority of those victories over Maiden happening after Tom Brown left.

Tonight is special for numerous reasons:

1. First home game of the year - love it!

2. First time playing against AC Reynolds - really nice stadium they have...a bunch of large JV kids in the fold. AC should be good for a long time. Their varsity team is fast and physical. This should be one heck of a first meeting!

3. Somewhat of a soft spot for me, something I'll get emotional about tonight without a doubt... It's the return of the Tunnel. A long awaited return to tradition, after 20 years, the Maiden Blue Devils will run out of the tunnel, under the fans, through the smoke, onto the field. I was a senior for the 2005 season, the last time a tunnel run was done (I'm excluding the one year our field was messed up and we played a Saturday mid-day game vs North Lincoln at the old high school...doesn't count). As small as it may seem...even to our own fans...this is a big deal. The players tonight will restart a tradition that was uniquely Maiden...there is nothing like it as a player.

Good luck tonight boys. Keep your head on a swivel, and LET THE SMOKE ROOOOLLLLLL!!!

Lincolnton 48 North Lincoln 35: I know Lincolnton isn't in the Western Foothills Conference, but North Lincoln is. The Wolves never trailed. North came out and tied the score in the third quarter, but Lincolnton was able to pull away.

Even though L led 27-14, at the half, I was concerned we might get tired due to North having what appeared to be so many more players than us, along with their option offense that puts a lot of pressure in defenses, resulting in another West Lincoln situation in which they were tied at halftime, then North came out in the second half and just swept WL away.

Really proud of our guys for not giving up. Way to go Wolves, thanks for the effort.
Our quarterback R. Lynch, really played hard and smart. Difficult to believe someone of his size is so tough.
J. Mayfield, truly looked like a division 1 athlete, tonight. Our defense did well too, in containing
L. Agee, to some extent. He racked up a lot of yardage, but it could have been worse for us. He is indeed a horse.

Up until tonight, I was under the impression North Lincoln had NO passing game. Do not be deceived, their quarterback, D. Burns is a very capable passer. Our guys were keying on Agee, and stacking the line, and got burned more than a couple of times.

For those in the Western Foothills Conference which is brutal in its own right, North Lincoln is not a team to take lightly. This is not said because we had a tough game with them, but I can spot a spoiler. Remember who told you.


* Postscript: All the best to North Lincoln's J. Freeman, who went down in the first half with a leg injury and was taken off the field in an ATV type vehicle. Hope he is ok. I wondered if he was taken to the hospital in Lincolnton. Kudos to both teams for taking a knee and offering their prayers for him, and too, props to both cheerleading squads for greeting each other, joining hands and having prayer prior to the game.. Way to go y'all.


*Side Note: Maiden Posters, Maiden Creek and AMD (amaidendevil) were correct on predictions mentioning speed. This is not a boast, but I felt like our speed was the difference.

Oldmanburke, who I’m thinking is my friend burkeforeal, North does have a lot of juniors on their team, but some of those guys have a lot of experience. Don’t know if you’ve seen L.Agee play, but he is a very strong runner, and was last year when they drubbed us. North doesn’t play like an inexperienced team. The coach they got from Maiden is really good, in my opinion.
Also, Lincolnton has either 8 or 9 seniors. We have more sophomores than seniors.

Get up, AMD. Your readership and all lovers of invective are depending on you. Besides that, you got to get ready to welcome the North Lincoln Knights to the infernal zone (my second name for the new T. Brown Stadium).
Run the bathtub full of cold water and stick your head down in, that really gets you going…It also helps if you turn the radio on one of the loud, up-tempo, southern gospel stations…Careful, though, if the radio is a plug-in, don’t place it too near the tub, if it fell in the water you’d look like Mr.Kilowatt, you know, the Duke Power mascot.

We had better have a good run of JV success, because the killer schedule isn't going to change for four years. We certainly could (should) have won this game vs. ACR. Three dropped passes to wide open receivers and three dropped potential interceptions, two of which could have been pick sixes, was the difference in a 27-26 loss to a 6A opponent. Give the credit to ACR, they made the plays they had to make and we didn't.

He could set the edge on running plays, and help give us a pass rush that we certainly didn't have vs. Lincolnton or ACR. He didn't play defense at North Lincoln and playing him on defense is just gonna take away energy and rest for him running the ball. Defense was fine last night besides a couple big plays. And as u said if they made 2 of those 3 plays game is totally different. #80 DE is aggressive and only downfall is that sometimes causes him to not contain the play inside but he's a beast. #82 is good de but got injured last night. As far as def last the post over middle hurt us and the deep pass ac caught that was contested very well can't blame on def. Offensively just my opinion is there is things to work on line needs to step up a little more and Wingate needs to still acclimate to spread offense. There is a learning curve here to totally different offenses. Miscommunication on some passes and drops. Now special teams I can't argue on kicker. But it's not from trying I've heard they have been trying out soccer players and others. If u don't have a kicker not like u can just go sign one. Lastly I'm not a coach and this is just my ramblings. Also it's still week 2 of season id rather we round into playoff form as the season goes than to peak at beginning of season.

This is the only time I'm going to do this, but I'm going to give you a pass on this very uninformed post and not pick it apart line by line out of respect, only because you've been a fan for so long (and any post made between you're post here and mine now will be grandfathered into this pass).

I just want you to really think about what you're saying before you type it out. For example...that last sentence...the more I read it the more I want to blast you...but I promised @Maiden Creek I would tone it down. If I behave he might buy me some chicken livers when the season is over.

If you want to be a negative Nancy doomsday fan that's fine...but nobody wants to hear it...and if I hear it I'm calling you out on it from here on out. I already hear it from the stands, I'm not going to do it here too. If you genuinely are curious and would like to know about some things you don't understand, I'd be happy to walk you through it offline.
