Although Matt did a live blog of the game, I am still going to do my normal report on this game. Both teams made mistakes but the Westfield offense was markedly better and that was the difference in the game, despite two Westfield turnovers, one that gave Centreville the ball on the WF 9 yard line to start the second half. Centreville was unable to run well on the Westfield defense and had several drive killing penalties deep in WF territory, multiple failed 4th down attempts, and an INT in the end zone that did them in.

CV started the game on their own 10 yard line and after a few plays Ramos went around the left side and sprinted all the way to the WF 30 yard line, but a penalty nullified the play and CV was now on their own 3 yard line-a harbinger of things to come. Shortly after, CV punted from the own 6 yard line but got a good punt that was mishandled by WF resulting in the WF drive starting on their own 33 yard line. WF went on to reach the CV 24 yard line where they faced a 4th and 15 and a running play came up well short, giving CV the ball on the CV 28 yard line. CV promptly went three and out, giving WF the ball on the WF 38 yard line. This time WF finished the 62 yard drive with a Daniels 21 yard TD run to go out in front, 7-0 (Nugent XP) with 2:28 to play in the first quarter. After a decent KO return by CV, a personal foul on the run back found them pinned deep again, this time on the CV 10 yard line, where they again went three and out. WF started their next possession on the WF 42 yard line and moved to the CV 28 where they faced 4th and 6. Kim's 4th down pass hit Woodley, who made a disputed catch that was called good at the CV 4 yard line and WF had first and goal. Three plays later WF's Clancy ran it in from 1 yard out and WF extended their lead to 14-0 (Nugent XP) with 9:15 to play in the half. On the next CV possession, Egbers hit Jean on a 52 yard pass play down the middle and CV was threatening to cut into the WF lead with the ball on the WF 7 yard line. Ramos took the first down handoff to the WF 1 yard line, then on the next play Ramos got into the end zone-except that a penalty negated the play and pushed CV back to the 6 yard line. On the next play Egbers was sacked on the 17 yard line by WF's McClain, then on the next play the CV receiver tipped the pass and WF's Sumney came up with an INT in the end zone to kill the CV drive. WF's next drive, starting on their 29 yard line, moved to near midfield when WF's Daniel fumbled and CV's Edmonds recovered the ball on the WF 31 yard line. CV managed to reach the WF 22 yard line this time but faced a 4th and 1, with a Wright 2 yard run getting a new set of downs. A few plays later, a WF penalty saw CV with first and goal on the WF 10 yard line. A 7 yard pass got CV to the WF 3 yard line but with time winding down and no CV timeouts CV downed the ball with 22 seconds and two downs to play. The next CV pass was knocked down, then the 4th and goal run from the 3 yard line was stopped short and the half ended with WF ahead, 14-0.

WF received the ball to start the second half on their own 29 yard line. After several plays WF's Kim dropped back to pass and tried to loft the ball over the onrushing CV line, but CV's big lineman Thomas tipped the ball to himself around the WF 15 yard line and then advanced the INT to the WF 9 yard line. A holding penalty on first down pushed CV back to the WF 16 yard line, then a short run, a short pass, and another penalty saw CV on the WF 14 yard line with 3rd and goal. After an incomplete pass, CV faced 4th and goal from the 14 and elected to attempt a FG, but the attempt was wide left. WF went three and out on their next possession and gave the ball back to CV on the CV 24 yard line, where CV ran three plays and then punted. WF's Hinton fielded the punt on the WF 42 and ran across the field and down the home sideline to inside the CV 20 yard line before being barely tripped up by the last CV defender, but a penalty pushed WF all the way back to the 50 yard line. WF was only able to gain 7 yards on this possession and lined up to punt. However, the low snap was mishandled and CV got the ball on the WF 40 yard line with a chance to get within one score early in the 4th quarter. Once again, CV failed to generate much offense and, facing a 4th and 11 at the WF 41 elected to go for it, but the 4th down pass fell incomplete. WF would almost turn the ball over again on their following drive, this time when Goodman was stripped on a run up the middle and the ball tumbled towards the CV goal line with everyone trying to corral it. Eventually, WF's Kiley recovered the ball on the CV 25 yard line. After a 12 yard pass to Woodley and a run for no gain, Kim hit Woodley on a 13 yard scoring pass and WF extended their lead to 21-0 (Nugent XP) with 3:38 to play. After a last CV drive that gained only a few yards the game was over and WF came away with a big win, 21-0.
