Some teams seem to make almost every game difficult. Such is life this season for any Westfield fan. Westfield built a decent lead, let Oakton back into the game to tie it at 19-19, then relied on their defense - once again - to retake the lead and hold on for a win, 29-25.

OAK started the game with a punt that only reached midfield and WF then got the game's first score on a Lee 7 yard run to go out in front 6-0 (Batchala XP missed) with 6:17 to play in the first quarter. OAK then went 53 yards to take the lead on a 1 yard Jones run when he was stopped at the line of scrimmage but spun off and into the endzone. After the Hodges XP OAK led 7-6 with 4:39 left in the first quarter. WF then marched to the OAK 15 yard line before OAK's Vazquez intercepted Carlson on the OAK 7 yard line. OAK did manage to get out of trouble but the drive stalled and they punted the ball back to WF on the WF 36 yard line. WF reached the OAK 21 yard line but faced a 4th and four. However, Carlson found Lee for a six yard gain for a first down. WF's Sutherland then scored on a 3 yard run and WF retook the lead at 12-7 (2XP pass was INC) with 6:06 remaining in the first half. OAK took over after the KO on their own 35 yard line but were forced to punt. WF's Flamer partially blocked the pooch punt and WF took over on the OAK 40 yard line. This WF drive was also successful when Sutherland took it in from 21 yards out and WF led 19-7 (Batchala XP) with 2:54 to play in the half. OAK then executed an 80 yard drive, highlighted by a 44 yard Martin to Jones pass to the WF six yard line, before Jones scored on a one yard run similar to his first score where he pivoted off the line and snuck into the end zone. The score was now 19-13 (Hodges XP missed) with 23 seconds remaining in the half.

WF received the second half KO and went three and out. OAK then scored on a 69 yard Hodges run and OAK had tied the score at 19-19 (Hodges XP blocked by WF's Cardenas) with 7:56 to play in the third quarter. WF would start their next drive on their own 26 yard line after a 24 yard Lee KOR but they only gained one first down and then had to punt, pinning OAK at their own 12 yard line. OAK would gain more big yards on this drive, reaching the WF 23 yard line on a 42 yard Martin to Hodges pass, but then WF's Webster intercepted Martin at the OAK eight yard line and returned the ball 92 yards for a pick six. WF retook the lead at 26-19 (Batchala XP) with 46 seconds remaining in the third quarter. OAK started their next possession on their 25 yard line and the first play got them to the WF 42 after a successful pass was helped by a WF personal foul. After OAK gained a first down on a 10 yard Martin scramble to the WF 32 yard line, the OAK drive ended with WF's Brubaker getting an INT at the WF 30 yard line and returning the ball to the OAK 46 yard line as the quarter ended. WF's drive then managed to reach the OAK 17 yard line before stalling and Batchala kicked a 34 yard FG to extend the lead to 29-19 with 7:21 remaining in the fourth quarter. OAK then went to work once again, using the passing game (Hodges) and runs by Martin to reach the WF 11 yard line, converting a 4th and five at the WF 32 yard line along the way. Martin then found Schwartz for an 11 yard TD pass but the Hodges XP was kicked into the line and the score was now 29-25, WF with 2:55 to play. OAK elected to attempt an onside kick but WF fell on the ball at the OAK 46 yard line and WF had a chance to seal the game-but they would leave the door cracked open for OAK. After getting a first down at the OAK 35 yard line, a facemask penalty on WF on that play, followed by a holding call on the next play, saw WF on their own 49 yard line and facing first and about 26 yards to get a first down to seal the win. WF then used as much clock as possible before being forced to punt with 13 seconds left. OAK's Martin was intercepted by WF's Lee on the final play and WF escaped with the 29-25 victory.
