With apologies to Matt Gilliam for his excellent blog, I will do a write up (there are a few fans out there who like these).

Yorktown won the opening toss and elected to receive. You could tell on the sideline they had a lot of confidence and wanted to start the game on a positive note, which they did on their first drive. Starting on their own 25 yard line, the first play was a long pass down the middle from Grant to Patterson to get into WF territory. Later, facing a 4th and 5 at the WF 40 yard line, YT elected to go for it and behind a 7 yard run from Grant moved the chains. Moving into the WF red zone, YT fumbled but recovered the ball on the WF 10 yard line. YT then had a first down at the WF 2 yard line, but after a 1 yard run, a run for no gain, and a motion penalty they were back on the WF 7. This time Grant found Rotker in the end zone and YT went in front, 7-0 (Gurafi XP) after a long drive that ate up 8:24 on the clock. WF started their first drive on their own 32 and used 6 plays in just 2:09 to score when Kim found Howard for a 31 yard TD pass and catch and the score was tied 7-7 (Paige XP) with 1:27 remaining in the first quarter. YT went three and out on their next possession and a short punt gave WF the ball at their own 47 yard line. WF completed this drive when Kim found St Germain in the end zone for a 25 yard passing TD to put WF in front, 14-7 (Paige XP) with 9:20 remaining in the half. YT, starting at their 27 yard line after the KO, moved to near midfield before deciding to go for it on 4th and 4 but a WF sack on the play killed the drive. WF took over on the YT 40 yard line and drove the short field to score again when Kim found Whippen on a 14 yard pass to extend the lead to 21-7 (Paige XP) with 4:04 to play in the half. After another YT 4th down attempt fell incomplete near midfield, WF ran out the clock to end the half up 21-7.

WF received the second half KO, which was a pooch kick that for some reason they did not cover well and YT recovered at the WF 23 yard line with a great chance to gain momentum and cut into the lead. After three plays netted only five yards, YT faced a 4th and 5 at the WF 18 yard line. The Grant pass was completed to the WF 11 and YT had a new set of downs. But an incomplete pass, a run for only a yard, and a sack left YT facing a 4th and 12 so they elected to try a 30 yard FG attempt. On the FG attempt WF's Howard came off the edge to block Garufi's kick and the score remained 21-7. (Note: On the 3rd down sack YT's Grant injured his shoulder and had to leave the field, which severely impacted YT's offense for the remainder of the game, forcing them to change formations and go to more of a running game, which was absolutely not working against the WF defense). WF took over after the blocked FG at their own 20 yard line and advanced to the YT 30 yard line where a QB sneak was stuffed on 4th and 1 to give YT the ball and another opportunity to cut into the lead. However, unable to move the ball, YT punted the ball back to WF and pinned WF deep inside the WF 15. WF did drive to just outside the YT red zone, where a Kim pass was tipped multiple times before YT's Rindfusz secured the interception. On this YT possession they ran three plays and punted, but on the punt WF's Howard made a heads up play and scooped up the ball in front of three YT defenders waiting to down the rolling ball, going 46 yards for a punt return TD to extend the WF lead to 28-7 (Paige XP) with 10:35 remaining in the game. The next YT possession also ended in a three and out, then WF drove 52 yards and scored again when Shanks ran it in from 6 yards out to cap the scoring at 35-7 (Lanigan XP). YT did get one more opportunity to score when a WF punt near midfield was blocked by YT's Brady and recovered at the WF 14 yard line by YT's Landefeld, but a 4th and long pass attempt fell incomplete with time winding down.
