Oakton controlled almost the entire first quarter while Westfield ran a total of 5 plays-a series of 3 and punt on their initial series, followed by an INT on the first play of the second WF series. Yet Oakton only managed a single 19 yard Prosser FG and the score at the end of the quarter was 3-0, Oakton.
To start the game Oakton drove from their own 20 yard line to the WF 21 yard line on their first series, but a fumble recovered by WF's Divecchia on the WF 21 yard line killed the drive. After WF's first series punt, Oakton again drove from their own 36 yard line to inside the WF 5 yard line, but the WF defense stiffened and forced the previously mentioned Oakton 19 yard FG. WF's second possession ended quickly when Oakton's Prosser made a good defensive play on a WF pass play for Eckert, popping the ball up where it was picked off by Oakton's Harris. This Oakton possession went three and out, giving WF the ball on their own 23 yard line. On the first play of the 2nd quarter, Johnson hit Burns on a 38 yard pass for a TD and WF went ahead 6-3 (XP missed) at the 11:38 mark. Oakton was stopped on their next drive when, while punting on 4th and very long the punter fumbled the snap and had to scramble but he came up 2 yards short of the first down, giving the ball back to WF on the Oakton 40 yard line. WF moved down the field and capped the drive with a 3 yard Cirillo run to extend the lead to 13-3 with 3:06 to go in the half. Oakton promptly fumbled again on their own 30 yard line on their next series (WF's Roberson recovered the fumble), and WF capitalized with a 28 yard run by Chung to go into the half leading 19-3 (XP was blocked).
After a WF punt to start the second half, Oakton fumbled and lost the ball for the third time, with WF's Divecchia getting his second fumble recovery of the night and returning it 30 yards for a TD to put WF up 26-3 at the 8:29 mark of the 3rd quarter. After another Oakton punt, WF faced a 4th and 14 at the Oakton 39 but faked the punt and Eckert ran 15 yards to the Oakton 24 yard line to keep the drive alive. A few plays later Johnson ran it in from 9 yards out and WF extended the lead to 34-3 with 22 seconds left in the 3rd quarter (2XP run by WF's Thomas was good after a bad snap on the XP attempt). Oakton's offense then had another series of three and out, after which WF started on their own 44 yard line and Johnson eventually hit Kiley on a 6 yard pass to extend the lead to 41-3 with 7:09 to play. With a running clock now in effect, Oakton managed to drive about 40 yards, including converting two 4th downs on the drive, but the clock ran out before they could score. Final, 41-3 Westfield.
