The number one team, number one announcing team, prime time and ABC TV.

We have to give OSU something they're not expecting and create massive confusion, that may mean 8 in the box, man to man and sending more guys than they have blockers, the V Tech formula was exactly that, Barrett in his first game had 1.5 seconds to make a decision.

We have no chance trying to play with them and just "do what we do" if we give them what they're preparing for it's a blow out.

KF has to harp on sound football and fundamentals I understand, but we have to go balls out crazy with something that catches them by surprise, something they haven't prepared for... most certainly on the defensive side of the ball!

Does anyone have faith that Kyle is going to outcoach his counterpart?

No, apparently you either have to use someone else to help you "leap," or fall on someone after your leap. From another thread on the subject.

We can also hope for Cardale Jones under center. His accuracy this year has been questionable to say the least.

Good post, we definitely need to apply the David strategy .

I agree with you. Was at the Indiana - OSU game a few weeks ago and Indiana gave Jones problems. In the second half Zeke and OL wore down Indiana but Jones struggled throughout. Inaccurate passing and just doesn't possess the speed that Barrett and Miller have.

However, I think OSU figured things out against our friends from Pennsylvania. I expect to see a lot of Barrett running the QB option and Miller from the wildcat. Those 2 players will give us fits and I believe Meyer understands that.

Unfortunately because of the defensive backfield situation, RU has to first make sure they don't confuse themselves. So I highly doubt we are going to see some secretive, complex defensive gameplan. Eventually the game may get ugly, don't want it to be ugly in the 2nd quarter.

I like the idea of throwing the kitchen sink at them with our defense. On the other side of the equation, a ball control offense will be our best defense. Sprinkle in a couple of play action bombs and you have a formula for success!

Nothing confusing about playing man to man, leaving them back there with no pressure will be worse

Like I said " play like your hair is on fire "...agree totally...we can not play with them in a conventional manner...we have to be as confusing and different then they expect...nothing to lose since the country says we suck.

The one game they've lost the last two years was solely lost because they were confused and didn't know who to block.

Quite an amazing accomplishment--a 20 game win streak that preceded a 25 game win streak. It's time they lost. Urban Meyer had a 22 game win streak at Florida. That ended in a game against Alabama. We need to play like Alabama Saturday night.

Completely agree. As someone else said play as if our hair is on fire or like a bunch of wild dogs that are totally unpredictable as well.

The most successful defense to date against OSU has been a 3-4 zone look. A lot of teams have tried the bear defense that V Tech beat OSU with last year and gotten torched by it.

The VT formula was the play a Bear front. It hasn't worked for anyone since. See the VT 2015 game as exhibit A.

I see what you did there. Some QBs can throw the ball deep AND be accurate too.
Why stir the pot here?
Wut? Just pointing out he has a different skill set than the other QB, Inspector Clouseau. He was accurate last year. Something happened to him at the beginning of this year.

we have nothing to lose, and need to play with that mentality...to even have a chance, we have to play even better than MSU, but it appears that Barrett will start, and as we know we struggle with spread teams--with Barrett, they will appear to be a better version of back in the day WVU...need some TOs as well...I'd like to run the hell out of the ball to play keep away, but I think we will need to air it out as I assume they will have 8-9 in box.

Devin Smith graduated and went to the NFL. Cardale threw 5 TDs in the three games to end the season last year, 4 of them went to Devin Smith on deep balls.

Not to insult Cardale, because physically he might be the most talented pure QB to come through Ohio State in a long time, but his strengths are not running the option or reading the defense. I don't know if he can throw a receiver open or go through a progression. Without a someone like Devin Smith (a truly great and under appreciated deep threat) I don't know if the Buckeye offense can take advantage of his strengths.

Interesting analysis, and never thought about it that way. At a superficial level, one could say Cardale Jone has regressed, but maybe the issue is one of not having a high quality receiver to get the deep throws?

Very possible. Michael Thomas is a great receiver, but he's not a deep threat guy. There's other guys on the team who could be but they're all former running backs and quarterbacks learning to play the position:

Jalin Marshall - first full season playing WR
Braxton Miller - first full season playing WR
Curtis Samuel - first full season playing WR
Dontre Wilson - second full season playing WR

My RU game plan for Saturday
Play a great game, force them to play a terrible one.
Don't look at them as unbeatable, but a real good team that will challenge your O & D
and take advantage of any mistakes you make.
The RU O and D must do the same to the Buckeyes and Special Teams must do their part in the team playing an error free game and keep OSU in bad field position every time they go on offense along with not having penalties hurt any of the drives or ability to retain /gain possession.

With those things and a good game plan, Upsets happen
I'm hoping for one Saturday night at R House

Actually, the formula is to come up with something they're not prepared for that also confuses them.

Jones is better than he has looked. We have be hit really hard by injuries at WR this year, vs PSU we were missing 5 our of top 6 WRs. It is hard to look good throwing when you are throwing to first year guys that are converted QB/RBs or walk ons.

The 3 yards and cloud of dust game plan, with Flood wearing a Woody Hayes mask would confuse them enough to give up the ghost

You got it.

We need to play to win.

To have a chance to win we must make their Qb best us with his arm and the wr corps that is depleted. Same gameplan as Michigan state

If we sit and let them pick us apart...we are done. We need to take out chances that we have got better in the trenches and committ and to stop the run and pressure the Qb and make their qbs beat us

If we do and lose...I can handle that. We made Conner cook make 1st round nfl plays to beat us. Make them.

If we sit...you can write ohio state in for 45 plus points and 550 yards and a loss for Rutgers by too much

Play with out hair on fire, the edge that the BTN talked about in the preseason...and let all hang out

It so...we may not win but got a feeling we play well enough to pick up some national respect

Zap- Here is the game plan.

Run the ball down their throat, and then hit them with play action like we did vs MSU..

We have the O-line, QB, RB's and receivers to do it.

We gotta play defense Biggy!
Playing it at a level OSU has not seen yet is our only chance
