Stone being closed doesnt help but maybe the roundabout will relieve some of it once they're done

When they did away with the malfunction at the junction, I was lost and didn’t know where to go.

Could you imagine if it’d been replaced with a roundabout then? Good God, that would have been confusing!

The “Malfunction” was removed out of the Junction in about ‘96, but it was found again inside the stadium in about 2023.

Say what you will about it, once you learned how to use it you could get ANYWHERE in Starkville/State from there

Unless you've been to campus in the last 3 months you have no idea how 17ed up it really is now.
-Engineering Row, closed, permanently and will be called a "pedestrian plaza" from Hand Lab/Chemistry Bldg to ROTC/Hilbun intersection. Throw in the back of the library having remodeling done with walkways closed re-routing foot traffic as well.
-Roundabout being built by Bost/KA house, so Stone Blvd was closed from Hwy 12 to Davis Wade back in November and won't re-open till sometimes this summer.
-E Barr from Bailey Howell to the Chapel is no longer a through street (going past the old boomerang dorms and where Suttle was), it stops at the intersection behind the Chapel at Old Main Academic Bldg and is blocked off. You can no longer go from the East Side of campus to the West Side w/out going past the Hump, past Davis Wade and into the Junction.

This is all being done in the name of "pedestrian safety", in other words, the students won't put their phones down long enough either walking through the crosswalks or driving and many accidents were happening so they are just shutting out vehicles as much as possible. Scooters are EVERYWHERE and they NEVER slow down when riding down the streets and sidewalks and through intersections.

If someone driving through Starkville wants to go to see the Grant Presidential Library and Lincoln display, good luck. Streets are either blocked off permanently or gated. Want to go eat at The Perry or Fresh Food, can't, they're blocked off w/ no guest parking anywhere. Its a giant cluster17.

This new development with the hotel madelon is going to completely transform campus, and I'm not sure I can say it will be in a good way. I was driving around campus last weekend and you're right - it's a damn mess.

Y'all do know the longterm plan has been for a while now to covert the central campus to pedestrian only? This was planned a while back.

On the matter of the scooters:

It's just a matter of time until there are some life-altering or life-ending wrecks on those. I've never seen anyone on one in a helmet, but they're going plenty fast enough to crack open a head.

I've seen some minor bo-bos and heard about others, but I'm amazed someone isn't getting killed 'bout every day.
