The guy won a national championship (would have been three, if not for biases and terrible officiating), and is doing some good things at UTSA. He can also recruit Texas and Florida.

Bill Snyder is doing okay and is older than Coker.

Larry Coker inherited a National Championship squad. He underperformed from then on out. He's too old to hit the recruiting trail with vigor.

He can not recruit. That's why he was fired at Miami. He won with the other coaches talent and then went downhill when his recruits started playing.

This is what happens with a lot of assistants that are promoted internally. The assistants don't have the charisma to get the good recruits.
