What are the chances that Auburn skates on this?

I mean, I can just see Auburn officials, coaches, and boosters having enough roundabout ways that the money touched hands that they can't be held responsible for where it ended up.

Goes something like this:

Cecil Newton needs some money to make repairs to the church...several hundred thousand. He secures the services of Kenny Rogers (unofficially, off the books, of course) to direct Cam's recruitment. As far as I know, there's nothing wrong with this, and if there's no written proof, it would be nearly impossible to prove.

Cecil and Rogers start making demands, with Rogers' being the phone calls to Mullen, Bond, etc.

AU finally decides to up the ante with $250K and the Newtons accept. The $250K goes to Rogers and the company, not directly to the church. At some point, the company donates the $250K OR there was a loan taken out by the Newtons that allowed them to make the repairs, with the promise to receive the money at the end of Cam's eligibility (after he enters the NFL draft this year).

AU then claims that the coaches were not involved. Administrators were not involved. There was no lack of institutional control. If anything, its a stretch to prove that the AU money was given to be distributed to the Newtons.

There's no money trail DIRECTLY between AU boosters and the Newtons proving that AU, unequivocally, paid the Newtons. Cam or Cecil took the money from the company with no knowledge of AU coaches or administrators. At worst, their games are wiped off the books. No probation, no nothing.

I can see it now.....[17].

Auburn has the worst case of penis envy in the world. The thing is that Bammer can buy them over three times or more. AU has money people like Lauder but Bammer has one family that has three Billionaires (Yes Billionaires) in it. And their company is privately held So Au cant touch them therefore the penis envy. AU will do everything they can to keep up in the arms reace with Bammer. Its really that simple.

which is defiant in tone. "Cam Newton is clear to play," said Head Coach Gene Chizik. "We have nothing to say about this matter," said [some assistant AD for media relations].

When questions were raised about benefits and agent contact at a party in Miami, UGA sat AJ Green's *** for 4 games. What's AU gonna do? Huh?

When we found out, or when it became public knowledge (however you want to say it) that his car was purchased for him by someone that might have been a booster, he was suspended indefinitely and never played another snap for us.

That's probably because despite the fact that he'd do some good for us every so often, he'd screw it up a good bit. Of course the flip side to that is that by sitting McClendon we avoided any NCAA issues. We at least made it appear that we didn't know of any wrongdoing, and we reacted immediately by making him ineligible. They never gave us any sanctions or forced us to vacate any wins.

Auburn knows that their season is tied to Cam Newton, period. If they sit him while they wait to see what comes of this, they will lose to Georgia and Alabama for sure. Their hopes of an SEC title and a national title run would be over if they sit him. They know that, so they are taking the risk. If something does come of this, they'll end up with some sanctions likely, and they'll have to vacate some wins, but for Chizik it's worth it to take the risk. Honestly I agree with it.

With the way the NCAA moves, if anything does come of it, it won't happen until next summer at the earliest. By then, Auburn would've won their SEC title and maybe national title, if it's going to happen. They won't act quickly enough to force anything on Auburn until after the season has played out.

If anything, I think this pretty much guarantees Newton will be entering the 2011 NFL draft, and I think it just about guarantees that Malzahn will try his best to jump ship for a head coaching gig somewhere, unless this tarnishes him enough to not get a look.

The one guy who is probably hating life right now is Gus Malzahn's agent. He's got to be thinking, "****! I had this skinny ***, tongue chewing, social misfit, weirdo poised to make me major coin and now he's damaged goods until this **** blows over!"

That class was not just made up of Cam, and someone earlier mentioned this, but one minute they are cussing Cheesdic at the airport, and then he is pulling in a top 4 class with a 5-19 record at Iowa State....c'mon man!!!!

Kenny Rogers is a soon-to-be night watchman at a Wal Mart distribution center somewhere.

That's basically the answer. I'd bet at least 75% of every SEC recruiting class received benefits, at least in some small amounts. Auburn likely took it to a new level this year.

We're actually saying that Cecil Newton pimped out his son in order to raise money to make needed repairs for his church??

There are certainly ministers out there who will sink all of their personal money into their church to keep it going. There are also ministers out there who are morally corrupt and will do anything for a buck. There are not many who fit in BOTH categories.

that Goldie got the benefits from someone other than the coaching staff. Your coaches had done nothing wrong so when the questions came up they had to act to protect themselves. Chizik on the other hand is neck deep in this already. If it hits the fan he is going down hard anyway, so he might as well pile up as many wins as possible and hope it blows over. But by playing the kid with all this out there Auburn is going to be absolutely HAMMERED if this turns out to be true.

He says the business is cleaner than it has been in the past. I implore you to come up with facts to support your "everybody cheats" theories. I have buddies that claim they know all this insider stuff about MSU and I call them out too.

The only facts we have is that Alabama went on probation for paying for a player, so did SMU, Ole Miss under Brewer, Auburn under Dye, Kentucky, more recently USC. I'm not talking about $100 handshakes. Show me proof where BIG money like this changed hands and they didn't pay consequences.

Auburn will get off but the public opinion of Auburn and SEC will be the *****. The issue is how hard does NCAA / SEC want to turn over rocks. You can bet your bottom dollar that hands will be staying in their pockets this up coming season for the new draft class..... Unless CAM one ups his previous superman performances the public will be looking else where for the Heisman.....

You're asking me to do something that can't be done. The only proof is when something comes out in the media and is followed by sanctions.

I can tell you though that I've heard from reliable sources very close to certain situations about enough both involving us and many other schools to believe that cheating goes on everywhere.

I don't believe you have too many players going for 6 figures, but there is still a good bit of boosters getting involved in "helping" prospects with certain things. I don't know that it's worse or better than it used to be, but part of me would have to believe that it would be much easier today for boosters to commit violations in small amounts left and right. The internet, the photos of prospects, and the information that's available now makes it really easy to find the big prospects if you really wanted to do it.

Mullen, for instance, may run a very tight ship and a clean program. However, there is absolutely no way he could control some of your alums if they wanted to find a prospect and slip him a little something or send him an envelope of cash, any of that.

Much of the drama lately has involved agents and such one the players are on campus, and readying for the NFL draft.

Exactly, and that's what I listed earlier in my previous post. You admit that your story can't be proven. So why do you subscribe to it so strongly? If you believe that, that's fine. But don't use it to back up various arguments you may make about other subjects. That kind of stuff will get you the death penalty in a court of law.

I can tell you though that I've heard from reliable sources very close to certain situations about enough both involving us and many other schools to believe that cheating goes on everywhere.
Yeah, right. We all have. Again, none of it can be proven. When it can, the school gets busted. Hard. I guess, at some point, most all schools 'have' cheated, but they don't all do it regularly. Most learn their lesson from probation. I'm pretty sure MSU did.

hey...the NCAA hears this kind of crap all the time, but to investigate- there has to be something more .... I don't think there is anyway a major university would file an official report just based on hearsay .... I'm telling you, this is more than agents, hearsay, and speculation .... someone in the instituion knows more that hasn't yet been said

by playing Newton. If Newton is ultimately ruled ineligible, they've lost nine wins already; what's three more going to hurt? If they go undefeated and have to give up the wins, they'll just say that regardless of how they got Newton, they were still the best team. A moral victory.

real investigations done by the NCAA involving the SEC since Slive has been around. Something substantial must be out there for Slive not to be able to choke this off at the SEC office level.
