What are you people seeing that I (and others) aren't?

First of all the ONLY (and i mean ONLY) complaint i have is that we got REALLY conservative too early in both play calling on O and D. We went to our base cover 3 package too early and our offensive play calling got too conservative as well. But other than that no complaints. Oh yeah somebody tell Chris Smith to stop fumbling. I know some of you don't see it but UK has a pretty damn decent front 4. Ask S.C. I saw Siddoway get his *** rocked a couple of times by a damn good rush end. Saw Tyler take a damn blast right in the grill because he was supposed to throw it back to LdP on a checkdown that would've turned into a TD. But we haven't show anything that we're gonna do next week. There'll be more man coverage. We'll probably have to stay in nickel coverage most of the game. If Jameson doesn't fall down our D looked pretty good until we went to cover 3. Again (as someone else has said) its easy to coach man its hard to teach zone responsibilities.

The game was put away with 12:50 left in the 3rd qtr, when we scored to make it 27-7.

After UK scored in the middle of the 3rd quarter to close it to 27-14, they never made it past our 40 yard line.

I'm alittle dissapointed in our defensive ends. Eulls did not have a TFL or a sack, Mcardell had one tackle and I finally heard Denico's name called for a sack and a TFL. I just expected our front four would be more disruptive. That being said, we are 5-0 and it is clear from our playcalling we are sandbagging the hell out of our games. Which is fine I suppose, but I'd like to see us open up both playbooks against UT.

Dude, State had at least 8 tackles for loss today.

We ended up with 9 tackles for loss and 3 sacks.

We gave up 228 yards and 14 points with 7 of those points and 35 of those yards off of Jamerson Love slipping. 84 rushing yards given up on 34 attempts for 2.5 yards per carry. I agree we are sandbagging, but I would say that's a pretty dominant effort on the road in the SEC.

Yes, that's why I said DE. We've essentially played 5 cream puffs to date...

and our pass rush has been lackluster in an area I was hoping would be more of a strength. Nothing wrong with the overall defensive effort today.

Eulls wont ever be a big pass rusher. But he is hell vs the run. He will be a good pro DE in a 3-4 though

I think we are seeing the same thing. I'm assuming that less conservative in this case hopefully leads to more points. I'd also like to be a little more clean- the Chris Smith fumble is a good example. Eliminating that will also lead to more points.

Kentucky played as good as they could possibly play (zero turnovers AND an onside kick recovered) and they were never NEAR threatening to take control of the game. Makes me feel pretty good. Why give UT a bunch of film to study on their bye week?

Good to be 5-0!

Yes i think Eulls will be a great 5 technique DE in a 3-4. But at the same was said of Fletcher. I actually think Eulls is Fletcher with a less aggressive mentality. And as far as the TFLs are concerned again what did u see? These guys posted the stats from the game. I thought for playing in cover 3 for most of the 2nd half we dominated the line of scrimmage. I know we all saw there was alt to be desired as far as too conservative this & that but let's wait till after next Saturday to see where this team is. I'm 35 and have been a state fan ALL of my life and i have NEVER seen a more scrutinized undefeated team in my life! Let's just calm down, take a breath and wait. We'll see what our beloved dawgs are made of next week. If we lose because of similar things i will welcome the criticism with open arms. I thought Tyler had chances to really do some things big today. He seemed a little off, but we won. My coach once told me "good teams find new ways to win games each week." I love our flexibility on offense and the diversity of LdP is mind blowing. We had 39 rushes & 39 pass plays (via Joe G.). That will only help us when we face the big boys in the west.
