They are more likely to self-impose taking down their banner than they are changing their mind. They would look like total clowns.

Let's get two things straight about the ban and the media rounds being made by Pitino...

First, Louisville's hands were obviously tied based on what they have found during the investigation. The ban was not an act of contrition. It was an act of necessity, essentially throwing themselves at the mercy of the NCAA in order to preserve the title.

Second, this media blitz by Pitino was the plan all along as a strategy to minimize future sanctions. Louisville could have easily imposed the ban for next season, which would have been far more harmful to the program. The NCAA knows this. So in order to make the ban this season look more serious in the hope of saving the banner, Louisville screwed their current players and is now using them as martyrs. The idea was to make it appear that the decision was out of the basketball program's hands (even going so far as to say that the NCAA requires immediate action), and to pit Pitino (as the face of the program) against the decision-makers at the school. This has enabled Pitino to go on a "woe is us" campaign about how awful the decision is (again, making it seem out of their hands) and, more importantly, how there is no punishment more detrimental (note how he has said that exact thing several times). It is a smart strategy, but it is also rather transparent and hopefully the NCAA sees right through it.

I have a different theory. Ramsey wants Pitino out, but he won't go without his buyout if he would leave at all. Pitino has the support of the fans. If UL makes a tourney run there's no way they can get rid of him because there would be a total fan revolt. Ramsey took the pre-emptive step of the post season ban to try and mitigate sanctions AND short circuit Pitino. Now Pitino runs around doing these interviews talking about how this cheats the "kids" and how he would coach for no salary etc. in an attempt to garner support for himself.

But Ramsey didn't make the decision. It was confirmed yesterday that it was Jurich that made the decision. Also, I don't think theories about Pitino being forced out are mutually exclusive with what I said above. I think that is likely happening behind the scenes, but even with that, there is a concerted effort to save the 2013 title and Pitino is willing to get forced out like this because he thinks it is the only way to somewhat save his legacy. In essence, he is trying "fall on his sword." You can see it in everything he is saying. As the headlines said today from his interview on ESPN, he will be "vindicated" according to him and Louisville will be fine. That is an obvious attempt to ride off without this damaging his legacy to any significant degree, which is delusional.

I hope he falls on his sword and the strip that title right out from under him.

She said today in the interview that these parties went on 2010-2014. That's a lot of games on the line if her texts can verify that timetable. Nothing compared to the decades long UNC AFAM studies garbage. But, still 4 years is a long-running hooker party by anyone's standards.

Make no mistake, Pitino is for PITINO in EVERYTHING he does!!

My take on this whole situation is also a little different.

I think that Ramsey and Jurich are trying to save their face in this whole mess and they are LIVID that Slick allowed this to happen after they went out on a limb for him during the whole Karen Sypher mess.

Ramsey imposed the ban this season to make sure that Slick suffered. It was a way for Ramsey and Jurich to show Slick that the days of protecting his reputation are over. In turn, they are hoping he'll walk away from the contract peacefully.

That's why Slick is going on this restore my rep tour through the national media. The Louisville media will soon start to turn on him when Jurich allows the grace period for outrage by the fans to be over. The next wave from the Louisville media will be to blame Slick.

IMHO, this is what's going on.

I'd say that's pretty close. The people I saw at that last press conference were definitely not on the same page.

Agree with this,it is hard to tell who is on what page with this situation and who is even running the show.Maybe Ramsey is trying to appear to be staying above the fray but I think he looks weak in this whole mess.

I think if I were the president of the school at some point I would say something like now that this has come to light I am going to take charge and I'll be running this show until the conclusion of the matter.

UL Fans = Mentally Ill,Delusional,Sheep. Like The State or UK had anything to do with their Coaches infidelity,Hiring Hookers, and Cheating to try and compete with Big Brother.
If the rest of the state Boycotted the City of Louisville,it would be far more damaging than Vice-Versa,but trying to talk sense into that bunch is like talking to a turnip.
Also swore they'd never sing M' Old Kentucky home anymore at their games etc. Getting real serious.

Go ahead and bash me, but I think it's low class to give her a podium to speak when she's pimped her underaged daughters for sex. Louisivlle was wrong, she's the scum of the earth. Low class of KSR unless they confront her with that.

Its even takes a lower class of person to participate in with her, No two ways about it

UL already admitted guilt with the self-ban. They'll fire pitino once the season is over to attempt to appease the NCAA further. To be fired under these circumstances they won't have to pay pitino anything and that's probably got something to do with the statements about fining coaches part of their salary for violations. Pitino hoping to save his job by sacrificing some of his pay. Ain't happening, UL saves a lot of $$ by getting rid of him.
IIRC, when this first started coming out it was reported that Pitino's contract said he had to have direct knowledge or personally commit the infraction to be fired for cause.

They won't fire Pitino, a hall of fame coach.
But he will agree to step down, and somehow make himself appear to be a heroic victim acting selflessly, doing this for the betterment of the program.

You know, UK fans get a bad rap when it comes to love of our cats. But, I think a lot of fans of many teams have that passion. Here is a thread from Louisville that really brings the phrase "It's not crazy, It's sports" to life. After the Ky taxpayers have bailed out the Yum Cen...I mean Coach CAL Center(because he is 6-1 in that building)..this guy wants a total boycott of the state of Kentucky because his team paid for prostitutes and his rival school has fans that think it is funny. He thinks that ruining lives of people economically is justice for his team missing the NCAA tournament. I know he is one lunatic fan, but I enjoy their meltdown as a fanbase. Enjoy!

https://louisville.forums.rivals.com/threads/economic-boycott-of-the-commonwealth-of-kentucky.22753/

Yes... Boycott the rest of the state, please! That means, like an earlier post mentioned, no electricity. We should probably move the KENTUCKY Derby to Keeneland since they want to secede from the state. That alone would be a huge loss of money from Louisville. Speaking of horse racing, Churchill Downs' races should only allow horses that were bred, born, raised and trained in Jefferson County. That will be a huge draw and the races will be very exciting. So would UofL athletics only compete with other teams from Jefferson County?! Nothing like the Cards going 40-0 against all the high schools. But that would probably yield the same strength of schedule that their AAC or CUSA days brought. Imagine the headlines donning the sports columns in that scenario! "The Mighty Cardinals throttled Desales 120-19." The box scores would look like they were fabricated in North Korea. Their fans deserve it!

Their biggest fan "Squirting Up the L."

Its a dang Squirt Gun. Maybe one of our more creative guys can take photos of their fans and show water shooting up from their Squirt Signs. Like cowboys shooting their guns in the air. Would be awesome if we could turn their gang symbol against them. Make it Squirting up the L.
