WTH is the "Pan African Studies Department"?
I'm sure I'll be branded a racist for asking but, I have to. How does taking courses in Pan African Studies prepare you for a career? What happened to wanting to become an engineer, architect or a scientist?

This whole thing is a witch hunt. It reminds me of that Marx Brothers skit from the Holy Grail where they dress the poor woman up like a witch and say "she turned me into a newt".

“Obviously nobody can deny that Andre McGee was an employee of the university. But does that make the university responsible for all his behavior, where the program is concerned"

Is he blind or just can't see? They hired whores for players, recruits and recruits parents! Don't forget about Coach Mike!

The funniest thing about his comments is not necessarily his mention of McGee as a "rogue" employee, because that is a reasonable take, but that he acts as though it was only McGee. Sure, if it was some other violation, like contacting a recruit during a quiet period, etc., then you could say it was a rogue employee. But it involved dozens of recruits and players, all of which are part of the program (though you could say the recruits aren't). They obviously knew the NCAA rules were being violated when the basketball operations guy hired them strippers and hookers. It is a no brainer. So for Jones to act like it was McGee and only McGee over several years is absurd. This wasn't a rogue employee committing violations are his own. It was at least one employee committing major violations over several years alongside a large number of complicit players.

This is exactly right. I am tired of hearing many talk about how the punishment is unfair because the players were not involved. Who received the impermissible "benefits"?? The players on this team received the benefits, not all but many or most. UL and the NCAA know this and thus the self imposed sanction. Professor Jones is clearly not someone who should be on the committee. He also clearly should not be discussing the investigation.

another tidbit of deep thought and calculated deduction from bizarroworld:

cards76: I am pretty sure the reason we dont get the best recruits is they are scared of extremely hard work.
That's definitely why they beat us for Chane Behanan.

That was also the big selling point for Wall, Knight, MKG, Nerlens, Ulis, etc at UK. If there's anything those guys hate, it's working hard.

Billy Reed, that crazy old loon who gets on the radio on 680 in the mornings, said that the players should band together, demand Ramsey take back the post-season band, or sit out the games the rest of the year. He kept saying how this isn't fair to the players on the bench, forgetting that some of those players may have been involved in this whole fiasco, making any games they played this year auto-forfeits regardless.

It really is quite comical watching the fanbase spin this any way they can to make it sound better than it really is. Like a free-falling elephant trying to grasp at straws....

Yea, they should sit out the games the rest of the year. NCAA would really give them what they deserve.

They just can't stop lying. At least when politicians lie .... someone is there in the media to call them out for the embarrassment they are..... in louisville, Jones is the only media who dares to do it.

That UL compliance committee looks rigged and can be broken down into two groups. Those that will make the decisions and those that can agree or get run over in opposition.

Not a decision maker:
Jones- Pan African Studies Prof.
Wise- Humanities Chair
Tolson- Jazz Studies Prof.

Decision makers
:
Carns- Senior AD (compliance). Likely takes his marching orders from Tommy Turtleneck.
Strohm- Legal counsel. Hired from UNC a year ago. She was the architect of that programs legal defense in its cheating scandal.
Ramsey- UL President with his job on the line.

First it was Ramsey's call.

Then it wasn't Ramsey's call, it was Jurich's call, and Jurich is the best A.D. going.

Now it was Ramsey's call again.

I wish they'd at least make up their mind.
Soon there will be a press conference that no one knows who or how the decision was made to self ban and therefore they have decided to play in the tournament this year.

cardfaninmemphis on the UL board wrote "No, we think it is an act of foolishness and bad judgment. We expect better out of the University."

No he wasn't talking about the scandal. He was talking about the mole leaking info to Matt Jones. [roll]

Delusion? Its so thick we need a chainsaw to get through it.

I read that too. Self awareness is not the UL fans' strong suit.

Their rivals board has crashed big time since october when the scandal broke. Every UL fan that disagreed with them was run off the board...and others just couldn't put up with RockyCard, Kerry Rhodes, Zipp etc all being delusional. I remember that board being pretty fun especially when it had the smack talk board.

OTIS fans and their stupid BOD have officially gone completely off the humanity grid. The BOD states nothing new came up and why should they punish ul because of the actions of one person. I'll tell you why you idiot. Because everyone would hire a fall guy and cheat non stop you dope. How did he get on the board or is that a true representation of who gets on there?

They honestly can't think when in full denial mode.

What's mind boggling is the notion that it would take something "new" to justify a ban.

Ricky Jones is a modern day Malcom X; he complains about everything going on at UL that involves anything white in color.
If Ramsey was not white, he would not have went public with this complaint.
These people are so nuts right now down there, blaming everyone from the janitor to the president.

What drives me crazy is how they, UL fans, all think the ban is so unfair since none of the current players were involved.
This has nothing to do with these players, but the university, the basketball coaching staff and one of its former EMPLOYEES who broke rules. Who do these buffoon's think should be punished?

The rats are starting to jump off the sinking ship folks.

Actually, it might have involved some current players. Certainly can't rule it out.

Its difficult to hold back over on the UL board. They are leaving themselves open to so many jokes and I want to make them, but I have to keep reminding myself that killing them with kindness is doing well on its own.
