I don't have time to go back and read 75 pages, can someone summarize this thread for me? Thanks.
Ok, pretend you are Rick Pitino. It went something like this...

Could any lawyers out there give us a list of the possible charges a prosecutor could file against UL based on if what we know is true?

How can you say the word "problem" and then use a word like "violations"?

See this is what I am talking about.

First people want to classify it as singular (problem), and what was added to make it plural (violations)???

This is obviously an orchestrated hit piece.

And of course it is a cultural issue, you wouldn't have societies without culture, and without societies you wouldn't have universities, and without universities the NCAA doesn't even exist!

Unless you are stupid it is easy to see we have nothing to worry about.

Photos, texts, receipts, witnesses, blah blah blah, where is the real evidence?

We did absolutely nothing wrong.

And if we did, it will be McGee's fault.

Zero sanctions for the university.

We are obviously innocent.

And if we are not, so what, everybody does it...

Sounds suspiciously like the UNC*** template for denial, deflection, and dodging except dumber.

Not a chance and that's wishful thinking. I think if anything in this matter is crystal clear is that he had no knowledge of this what so ever. The more that comes out the more this just sounds like college kids having some fun and throwing around some money. The girls sound more like friends than "professionals". I mean they were in swimsuits for goodness sakes. I am beginning to think this was even less than I thought yesterday. Still probably not in the best test but it's just college kids having fun.

You are either trying to be funny or you are the dumbest person on the internet. I am sorry, but Pinito knew about this and has done this for years.

It's not just his job and respect he's trying to save, he's trying to avoid federal prison for conspiracy to commit interstate prostitution.

The best part of his defense is that they didn't need this to help with recruiting. His biggest prosperity at ul came exactly during the time this took place. Rick has trouble with a specific concept. History. People keep track of it.

I could see Scotty Davenport there. Seems like a good guy. That being said, I hope they dig their heels in and keep Rick there forever.

From a UL fan I know, I'm hearing Phil Jackson is just waiting for Rick to step down. Contract is already signed. Expect a formal announcement soon. I'll keep you all posted.

How about Scott Davenport? He is from Louisville. He has a high school state championship while at Ballard High School. He has a Division 2 National Championship while coaching at Bellarmine. He also has taken Bellarmine to the Final Four 3 of the past 5 years.

He coached alongside Tubby Smith at VCU. He was also an assistant under Denny Crum and Rick Pitino. So he has worked with and under 3 NCAA National Championship winners and Hall of Fame coaches. He might be worth the risk if this scandal does hit the school hard.

It is difficult to imagine that Megee acted alone. If I were him, even if true that he acted alone, I would say that it was encouraged and people turned a blind eye. I am going to save myself as best that I can (I am an employee doing what I was told). Or, if I felt it would be swept under the rug, I would deny everything and stick with the story that it is just a company and writer/***** trying to make a buck.

I also believe that RP did not know, I can't imagine why he would take that risk. But, why did Nixon accept the Watergate break-in when he had an overwhelming lead as well? So, anything is possible.

I saw Matt Jones article how this isn't good for Kentucky because it will diminish the rivalry. I guess I will have to suffer with that outcome because I am enjoying it way too much right now.
Goodness 78, you are smarter than this. How does a man making $35000 give out $10,000 in benefits?
He never acted as a lone wolf and I would put $10,000 up that Rick new it from the get go.
Also, to answer the op, it is pretty hard to take the fall when you already have two recruits that have agreed to the allegations.

If It was a group effort I would squeal, it's one thing for the media and a bunch of fans that don't know you to have the impression that you did this but his real concern (non legal) is how his family feels about him.
Either way, I'd hate to be in his shoes.

The main reason I don't want Pitino gone is they might get someone that can accidently beat the wildcats sometimes.

So, in the past 48 hours, we have gone from Katina is a liar and was never in Minardi Hall to . . .

Katina and her girls were just friends with the players and wanted to show off their new swimming suits.

This story truly is the gift that just keeps on giving and giving and giving and giving and giving.

If you were McGee? Would you take the fall for everyone and hope someone from UL helps you financially for doing so? Would you tell all because your career is over as a coach? Or would you write a book about everything?
It amazes me that most people still can't see the extent and implications of this scandal. It's huge, and it's going to bring down Jurich and Pitino. Your question is irrelevant. There is an NCAA investigation, and there will also be a criminal investigation. The NCAA is already interviewing players who visited Louisville and then signed elsewhere. The NCAA investigation has already gathered evidence that confirms the charges in Powell's book. More evidence will be forthcoming, because the book's allegations are true and a lot more players will talk. The money had to come from somewhere, and it didn't come from McGee's little salary. The criminal investigation will center on fraudulent use of funds, contributing to the delinquency of minors, trafficking in prostitution, and conspiracy to conceal theses crimes through a cover-up. When the evidence has been gathered, the conclusions will not depend on McGee. There will be corroboration through multiple sources. If McGee lies, he will be subject to criminal conspiracy charges. Here is where this is leading. Pitino is finished as a college basketball coach. President Ramsey can try to provide cover for Jurich, which seems to be his initial inclination in the matter. But if the NCAA finds that Jurich knew, then Ramsey himself may have to resign, and his own career would probably be over. I haven't seen anyone speculate about this yet, but I am just waiting for this to spread to their football program. As soon as someone implicates the football program in this scandal, which is probably coming, then President Ramsey must either clean house, or resign and let an interim President clean house. Either way, Jurich's run is probably over and UL's major athletic programs will be starting over again from scratch. The house of cards is coming down.

It won't happen. The wins over him are a little extra special and would hate to see them show him the door.

I cant believe any of you guys think Pitino didnt know about this or better yet orchestrate it??? Cmon...4 years this is happening and he didnt know...you guys are smarter than that. If he didnt know its the worst case of lack of institutional control on planet.
I don't believe he knew specific details. He almost certainly knew McGee was taking care of recruit "entertainment," and accepted a "plausible deniability" role in what was happening.
