Re: "why do they need hookers? They could get it free, etc."

As a few above pointed out, logic doesn't work in this situation. Most of those guys could get laid whenever they wanted to, most likely. Maybe by some hood rats, but still free booty was there.

I think it was the idea that it was much more gangsta to party with hookers. I'm sure Chane just ate it up. Smoking weed, hookers, etc. Living out this ridiculous image of some kind of gangster.

Chane= D-League Tupac.

Edit: To clarify, I meant the rationale of some of the UofL players, not the recruits. As others have pointed out, for the recruits it was free booty just throwing itself at you on a recruiting visit. Those that were truly L1C4 were the recruits that were down to party with some hookers. It was a good way for Pitino, either directly or through his minions, to get the right fit for the culture he was creating at Louisville.

The Hoes over hype t shirts? Hahaha

This truly is an unbelievable story, the more time passes the more and more I believe it. I know UK fans don't think to highly of Rick, but I hate to see him go out like this. Rick won't last this.

Go cats!

Caught a little of Bob Valvano's show today. I normally find him tolerable, but his true circle the wagon colors were on full display today.

First, he's interviewing a guy who works at the CJ. He begins by talking about his brother's scandal at NC State, and tells of some journalist down there who vowed to "get one more scalp before he retires." Jimmy V had the scalp, and that writer for a Raleigh paper made certain the scandal was page 1 stuff day after day, even though when the dust settled it was all only about "free tickets and shoes" in Bob's telling of the story. It took me a moment to realize where this was going, and then I was incredulous. He was pre-emptively warding off or complaining about unfair media for Pitino, AT THE COURIER-JOURNAL. Now, I am a firm believer that media bias is a certainty in life, but this is like a Republican saying Fox News is in the tank for the Dems, or like a Dem complaining that MSNBC (NYTimes, CBS, whomever) favors the Repubs. Doesn't pass the laugh test.

Second, in conversations with 3 different people, he complained about ESPN having Matt Jones on OTL (per Bobby V, the entire explanation for Jones' success is that he's anti-uofl, has nothing to do with UK or its fans). That tells me that Jones is in their heads (and after today, "their" is the right pronoun, Valvano is embedded with uofl). His overall tone and demeanor was one of worry.

As if anyone ITT or on Louisville's board would stop and ask whether the dancer offering to fellate/much more them was paid, particularly while drunk and/or high.

Hell, would anyone stop and think "Man, this girl is literally about to sit on my lap and **** me. Maybe I should go out and spend an hour chasing tail with other girls on a campus I've never seen before."

Seriously, 18 and 19 year old males. This isn't rocket science.

I'm really inclined to agree with Tanked, ukbob and others who say I'll believe there will be serious consequences to uofl, Jurich and Pitino when I see it. They simply own this town - the culture in this town and around Louisville athletics is very reminiscent of early 90s era UNLV. it's about winning and dollars - notions like embarrassment and ethics and doing it the right way are for chumps (although they faithfully employ all the right platitudes). National scorn won't matter - the bubble this community provides us nearly invincible. So there has to be something beyond just scorn - NCAA sanctions, something......

So I am skeptical. It did occur to me today that Pitino is either 63 or 64, much closer to the end than the beginning. How will that impact his thinking? How will it impact Jurich's calculations?.......

Pitino fooled that guy. He tried to play it off in the presser like he had just been told about this ten minutes prior to speaking. He has known about the book for a month. McGee said he knew about the arrangement. Everyone that knows Rick knows he knew. If it was common knowledge at Minardi with security, it was common knowledge to Rick.

He thought he was safe at Porcini's. He thought they were safe at Minardi Hall. Pitino is an idiot.

It won't matter if McGee falls on his "sword" so to speak. Pitino is screwed ( I liked that one) by strict liability, which will certainly be in play in this mess. I can't wait to watch.

Translation: I won't arrest you yet, but you best keep your mouth shut.

That again is Tom Wine, Graduate of University of Louisville for undergrad and law school programs.

You know he's a prick if he went there for seven years.

That low down son of a gun. Hard working single mom, taking the kids to work with her so she won't have to pay a sitter. The man needs some compassion

Jurich needs to move on to Texas, he, Pitino and Petrino can start anew there. Texas won't mind the scum running their athletics, they're despised in the B12 anyway.

The IBJ hired Indianapolis-based Certified Fraud & Forensic Investigation to comb through Powell's phone and corroborate phone calls and text messages and match up the phone numbers she was claiming she was contacting. The firm digging through Powell's phone, Cady said, eased any concerns they had about the supposed "virus" that Powell claims in the book erased hundreds of text messages with McGee.

Asked if the firm confirmed that it was indeed McGee who was contacting Powell, Cady thumbed a stack of cellphone data records and said, "Oh, yeah." Cady declined to share the records with The Courier-Journal.

Asked if he ever doubted the veracity of any of Powell's claims at any point in the process, Cady flatly said no.

I guess I should clarify what I said earlier.

whether Pitino knows what was happening or not isn't the question, the question is - is there a direct link between McGee and Pitino to prove he knew it.

But I still believe that Pitino wasn't going to knowingly risk prostitution with recruits and players - especially when there are sororiety houses that would line up to Amtrak those guys

I doubt seriously he'd ever be fired. If the scandal where he admitted to having sex on a table in a public restaurant, impregnating the woman, and paying for her abortion, and dragging the school through court didn't trip some kind of morality clause, this surely won't. I'm sure he will be insulated from any culpability or having to claim any knowledge of anything.

Of course, the real irony here is that, despite this scandal and the scandals involving Petrino, Louisville fans will still claim moral superiority for their school.

Of course, what should happen, if this turns out to be true, is that Louisville should clean house, Jurich included. But don't hold your breath. The Louisville media was complicit in defaming all while exonerating Rick the first time. I expect another full court press this time around. And the NCAA won't do anything about this, either, though they clearly should.

The Louisville news media begins their defense of their sacred cow. Terry Meiners dons his knee pads for the post below.

Terry Meiners -

Until more evidence comes forward, let's examine tangible evidence in hand.

Alleged professional pimp (of her own underage daughters) Katina Powell's unlawful transactions are published in#BreakingCardinalRules.

Is the publisher of this profit seeking book complicit in exploitation of underage sex workers regardless of whether those claims are verified?

Publisher gave IU a gift of $35M out of his own pocket, the IU law school is named after him, I'm sure he really needs the profits from a $7 ebook.

Publisher stated that multiple layers of verification were utilized including interviews, receipts, photos, texts, attorneys, and an investigator.

The IBJ hired Indianapolis-based Certified Fraud & Forensic Investigation to comb through Powell's phone and corroborate phone calls and text messages and match up the phone numbers she was claiming she was contacting.

Asked if the firm confirmed that it was indeed McGee who was contacting Powell, Cady thumbed a stack of cellphone data records and said, "Oh, yeah."

How long until the IRS investigates KatinaPowell for failure to pay taxes on alleged cash transactions?

$10,000 over 4 years...?

"When determining whether you need to file a return, you don't include tax-exempt income. In 2014 for example, if you are under age 65 and single, you must file a tax return if you earn $10,150 or more, which is the sum of the 2014 standard deduction for a single taxpayer plus one exemption."

Will the LMPD & UofL police chiefs investigate if the "cops" entries are legitimate?

Do the Louisville Police want to see Pitino, Jurich, current players, past players, former recruits, recruit's dads on the witness stand?

Who gave Andre McGee thousands of dollars in discretionary income to allegedly solicit prostitutes?

You tell us Terry, I bet the source is closer to you than us.

What college or high school star athlete needs assistance finding female companions?

17 year olds on their first college visits away from home at a university where they know no one and the girls have no idea who they are, especially if they are going to meet 40 year old prostitutes.

What high school kid doesn't use social media to brag about aberrant behavior at UofL or any other place? That's how all of those cradle-robbing teachers are discovered. There have been zero social media references by recruits or student athletes related to misdeeds at Minardi Hall.

Because big time recruits are coached by handlers. How many recruiting interviews have you seen? These kids are taught to answer questions without giving up the real data.

And how many people keep sporadic logged entries over 4 years yet they're uniformly lined with the exact same handwriting size as though they were all written at once with the same writing implement? Just asking.

With texts, photos, receipts, the coach admitting he knows her, Pitino and Jurich NOT denying, a pulitzer prize author, no defamation claims, recruits named, former players named, current players named, parents named, DOES IT REALLY MATTER?

Geez Terry, 5 minutes on Google could have answered all of your questions. I do not foresee any Pulitzer's in your future.

These "parties" had been going on for two years before Rick elevated McGee to the position of "head of basketball operations". Rick knew of the scheme at that time and was assured that as loyal L1C4nicate "ladies", their secret was safe.

Rick's egomania knows no bounds. Just like when he thought all the UK fans would still embrace him and he could unite our fan bases when he took the little brother job.

Sandusky had more morals than Pitino. He just had one mental flaw.

I think 3 stacks bows out with some health excuse, not due to this scandal, but because his recruiting is going to suck even more than it does now. He isn't going to go down with a .500 team and the jackels at his throat.

Only heard him for a couple mins today and he was telling UL fans to respond to people talking about this by asking them if their school has had any scandal in it's past, and a few other comments which were obviously referring to UK. Such a shame that a UK grad has reduced himself to being a shill for Ricky 3 Stacks.
