Chris, Do you think Croom is gone if the Dogs win 4 or less

Chris Low: (1:26 PM ET ) No, nor do I think he should be gone. He's not going to let that team get away from him. He's done such a good job of rebuilding what was an impossible situation when he got there. Now, I do believe he has to take a long, hard look at what they're doing offensively, be it system, coaching, etc.

He doesnt think a coach with a 18 and 34 record should be fired? Holy ****! "He's done such a good job of rebuilding what was an impossible situation..." ??? The only thing he has done a good job of since he has gotten here is collect a check.

To get paid a ton of cash to talk about **** you don't know a damn thing about. Chris Low doesn't know a damn thing about Mississippi State sports and he gets quoted as a so called expert on the situation. What's all this talk about not letting the team get away from him? Hey dipshit, the players won 8 games in spite of him last year and now the team that hasn't got away from him is on the road to another 3 win season again.

Ohhhhh but it was an impossible situation... there was no hope. Yea and Vandy, Utah, BYU, and Boise State had MUCH better situations since 2001. That is a bunch of bull and is a worn out and tattered excuse for the failure that is Croom.

Welcome to three freaking years ago Chris Low.

that would have made his quote absolutely perfect.

what about the record of 1-4 with a more favorable SEC schedule do these idiots not see? just like the hot seat thread where tubberville is higher ranked on the hot seat than croom and he has a much better record this season....our standards have been too low for too long.

The ones that got run off were the cancers that had to be gotten rid of. Name me one of Jackie's players that Crxxm ran off that ever amounted to anything. Crxxm did what had to be done that first 18 months on the job. The problem is we haven't improved on iota since then. We're easily in better shape than we were when Crxxm took over the job. But we're no better now than we were 3 years ago.

Nobody is going to say that Sly should be run off that is in the media. To much at stake for them.

The ones who could've been coached up if for nothing other than depth, but were thrown out of the program.

That is the biggest load of ******** Crxxms ever managed to sell to our sheep and the media. Un-17ing-believable.

But Donovan Davis was one of the biggest pussies we've ever signed. There's no way anybody was ever going to make a college football player out of him.

Byrne won't pull the trigger this year in fear of a monumental backlash in the media. I'd assume a large majority of State fans are in favor of dumping Croom. Doesn't matter though.

1) People are overestimating how much of a backlash there will be and 2) any backlash there is won't last nearly as long as Crxxm's incompetence will if we keep him.

when dealing with our football coach. He sure as hell didn't do it when hiring our baseball coach.

Caring about perception can sometimes get in the way of the right decision, and he's done nothing to this point to indicate he gives two ***** what those not associated with MSU think. I think he'll stand up for the university on this one. I hope he will at least.

one year removed from playing in the SEC championship game. It would help deflect some of that argument.

and quite frankly disappointed if he didn't.

Once again, if there's any media backlash, we need to support Byrne and let him know that WE support his decision. Screw those morons on ESPN.

Byrne just told arguably the biggest icon in MSU sports history(Polk) to take a hike. I don't think he's terribly worried about media or fan backlash.

I know that the race issue brings a lot more heat into play, but there is no one on earth who can defend Croom's 5-year record if we win 3 games this year.

some stories, blog comments and editorials for about an week and then the media animal pack will be off chasing other fresh game. We are so far under the radar on the national level that it will not be a big deal.

and Alabama fired his *** in 2000 after a pitiful year (not to mention they were SECW & SEC champs). Of course, they probably would have fired him before the 99 season if the 'Little Debbie' story had broke soon enough for them to find a decent coach.

Or whatever the name is......could be a very informative website. I know the media blows off the internet (as they should). However, you know people like Reece Davis looks at these sites as he has mentioned them on air in the past. Put the website out there.....complete with;

Record at MSU
Record at MSU compared to past MSU coaches
Highlight big losses obviously
Offensive rankings combined with statements about "I am the offensive coordinator."
recruiting class ranking previous to and after hire.
player arrest to rebutt the character arguement.

....and on and on. He has said enough, made enough dumb calls, and enough bad loses that with all this information out there.....there should not be any arguement.

I know MSU isn't the easiest place to win. But the guy is on track to have the worst winning % of any coach since the 60s.

I'd have a package ready to fire back at the media. Show them that Croom is the second losingest bcs coach in the country for people who've been at the school for 5 years or more (ty willingham!!). Show his winning percentage. Show why the situation wasn't impossible. The people who keep saying that don't even know whether we're Mississippi State or Ole Miss. bleh

Chris Low: To truly appreciate what Croom did with the program last year, you first have to understand how bad a shape it was in when he was hired. They weren't flocking to Starkville to take that job. I agree that he has to take a long look at the offense and find a way to get more production, whether that's changing systems or coaches. But he's brought an attitude, a discipline and a stand-up way of doing things there that will serve that program well for a long time to come. My suggestion would be to at least allow this season to play out before you propose running off the reigning SEC Coach of the Year. Croom is enough of a realist to make whatever changes are necessary to keep that program competitive. Give him time to finish the job.

What is it about Croom that he sees or hears to make him believe Croom is a realist? These silly bastards are happy we are stuck with Croom.

/Anyways...great question by "Matt" to Lowe. I wonder if he is a 6packer?

It was painfully obvious to anyone with half a brain that changes needed to be made to our offense after any of the past 4 seasons. And yet, Crxxm made no changes. So no, in my book, he gets no more time to make whatever changes are necessary. He's had plenty of damn time.
