He used it to gain an unfair advantage in the Wake Forest game. No difference than using an ineligible player IMHO.

This is yet another example of the lack of character that infests the entire UofL athletic program.

Any coach with integrity and morality would have turned Elrod in to the authorities.

Not ole honest Bob! No siree! Not a peep was uttered before the game from the UofL coaching staff.

UofL should have to FORFEIT that game.

Surely there is an ACC rule that would forbid this type of conduct.

From USA today on November 16th:

"Wake Forest football staff members discovered materials left behind by Louisville last Saturday that showed the Cardinals were prepared for plays the Demon Deacons had not run before, raising suspicions of a security breach, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports."

If not for this discovery, the investigation may never have happened.

Lonnie Galloway, Louisville's current co-offensive coordinator ---- coached at Wake in 2011-2012.

He was co-passing game coordinator at Wake, with ........ wait for it ....... Tommy Elrod.

There's your likely connection.

Petrino will likely say "what? I didn't know about this, blah blah blah." But this is honestly the type of thing --- sort of like lying about having contact with Auburn boosters or lying about a motorcycle crash that involved your mistress --- that could get a coach fired. A leopard tends to not change his spots.

This whole story is just bizarre. What was the guy gaining by giving out info? Was he being paid for it? Hoping one of the coaches would remember the gift in the future and hire him as an assistant? It's dirty he would do it at all and it's dirty if a coach took him up on it. I'm not surprised ole bob was one. But yeah this whole story is just really weird.

But Louisville is the only school for whom there is proof of someone taking him up on it.
Yeah, that were probably the only ones low enough to actually use it. But someone else should've smacked the guy around and said "Wtf is wrong with you?"

Thank God, Mitch Barnhart didn't listen to those fans that wanted him to hire Bobby Petrino here! People were irate to see Louisville have success with him. Here at UK, we couldn't risk that!

Guy played at Wake. He coached there. He's the radio guy there. What could possibly have happened to have him do that? I hope it was worth his career, because nobody in their right mind would let him have any sort of access to their organization ever again. If he'd do this to the university that gave him his education plus jobs, he'd do it to anybody.

He'd be perfect for government work.

I think this is your answer:

"Elrod, a former Demon Deacons player who was an assistant under former coach Jim Grobe, began working as a radio announcer for Wake Forest games in 2014 after not being retained by new coach Dave Clawson."

wonder what the emails say and to who all they were sent. Could be a long winter for UL football.

I'm not sure if they could dig through the guy's personal email. They definitely can dig through any university email account though since he was terminated with cause. A university provided cell phone would also be searched.

If that's all it took for a guy so entrenched in that university to turn on them like that, then he's done in sports forever.

It still doesn't make sense to me on a couple of fronts.

#1. Say UofL did have the game plan, plays, whatever. They would be in the UofL area of the locker rooms, offices, etc. How would a Wake Forest person be in that area to find such documents? If the documents were there, they would be kept under wraps. Not left out for anyone to find as they were passing through.

#2. Wake was leading in the 3rd quarter. If UofL had them pegged from before the game started, how would Wake be leading in the 3rd? With Wake leading that late in the game, it's pretty obvious that UofL wasn't on top of what Wake was running.

UofL exploded about mid way through the 3rd and scored 30 something unanswered. You honestly think UofL said "let's play this cool, let Wake lead until midway through the third then we'll unload on them"?

Now if UofL blasted them out of the gate, I'd give more credibility to this have possibly happened. But it just doesn't make sense at all with the way the game played out, and that these documents were found in a UofL coaches area by Wake Forest personnel.

Does the visiting team have free access to the UK locker room and coaches areas at CWS? Of course not, and I'm sure they don't at UofL either.

It just doesn't add up to me.

What was the point spread in that game?

Seems like something is going on, maybe a little gambling?

Just looked it up...spread if correct was 33

UL won 40-12

Nothing that happens in that cesspool is surprising anymore. This is bad on both ends, but it's still nothing compared to hookers in the basketball dorm in which their fans were like "heck, what's the big freakin deal"???

How many times have you been in the UK locker room and coaches areas at CWS?

But then you do come across as an expert on everything.

ESPN ticker said he may have been doing it since 2014. If that's true, Bobby's not the only coach to let it slide.
The WF guy either has to be selling the info, or he was betting against WF. There's no other explanation to selling out your alma mater like that.

Could you imagine if a former UK wildcat pulled a stunt like that ? They would hang him from a big oak tree somewhere near campus !

It just seems logical, if you're going to jeopardize a career you better be making some $$$$

He is done in sports world.

Keep in mind the documents were found in Papa John's the day before the game! That's key here because it gave WF's staff enough time to change the game plan before kickoff. You don't get any practice, but you run what the kids are comfortable with. At half time, Petrino may have realized that they diverted and adjusted himself. Just speculation of course though.

One a radio announcer shouldn't even have access to a teams game plans in the first place.second if Louisville had that info then it sure didn't help them in the first 3 quarters of the game.

Ok if they were found in PJCS my question is where at and was it in a place where a WF staff member shouldn't have been ?
