What did Petrino do w/ ill-gotten leaked info? He USED IT!!

I can't say that 100% believed her, and it turned out she was proven false on some of the things she said. I believed that something happened and I can dig up the posts to prove it. I was blasted by UofL fans for saying so UNTIL the day UofL made the public statement that opened with the words "Violations were committed".

In all honesty, I think the NCAA missed something in the investigation. Again it's one of those things that doesn't make sense or add up, just like this case.

Powell was bringing strippers/escorts into Minardi Hall after hours. The only one that knew was McGee? What about security? There are security guards that monitor the place, they didn't see or hear anything over a 3-4 year period? No security cameras (present in EVERY dorm, not just Minardi Hall) showing groups of women coming and going well after hours? No one saw anything even though there's security cameras and security people. Sorry, doesn't make sense.

Just like things don't make sense in this case. What are Wake people doing in the UofL/coaches area/locker room of the stadium the day before the game? If UofL did have the stuff, do you just leave it laying around in a common area for someone to find? If you have the stuff for 3 years, why are all the scores so close? No one would argue that UofL is much more talented than Wake and UofL blowing them out would be no surprise to anyone.

So IF Petrino did have them, why were the games so close? He obviously didn't read them or understand them.

Just doesn't make sense.

The only flaw in your story is that UL has admitted that there WERE stripper parties at UL. So, to me, that means that there was also a cover up (or to your point, why didn't the security people see them? Why didn't people report this who saw what was going on?). UL has admitted that was took place was BAD and they admitted that prior to imposing a postseason ban on itself. Even the chief liars themselves (Zurich and Petrino) admit it.

So, where are the mea culpas from the UL fanbase who excoriated Powell, Andre McGee, and others?

No...more like just wait it out until the entire facts come out instead of jumping to conclusions....and it goes back to 2014...no telling how many programs this might involve.

The problem with your analysis is that the UL fanbase didn't wait and see. They immediately declared that it was a lie by Powell and called her and McGee every name in the book while simultaneously proclaiming that Pitino and Jurich would never have something like this going on under their watch. There was also howling about how the media has it in for UL and how unfairly UL gets treated. How did that turn out? Still waiting on them to admit that they were wrong...

Keep in mind the documents were found in Papa John's the day before the game! That's key here because it gave WF's staff enough time to change the game plan before kickoff. You don't get any practice, but you run what the kids are comfortable with. At half time, Petrino may have realized that they diverted and adjusted himself. Just speculation of course though.

Sounds like a logical explanation of why Transfer U was so bad the first half. Hard to explain without some reason.

OK. Let's test this theory of you "not having your head in the sand". Can you please three things below that disappoint or embarrass you about UL / UL coaches. Also please indicate if you think it's OK the way that punishments and justice has been administered at UL through the various scandals. Lastly, please indicate what you would have done (e.g. should Petrino have been rehired? Was Zurich right to keep Petrino after each of his scandals, etc?) .
Each of Petrino's scandals ? Only scandal he has had didn't happen at UofL I probably would have rehired Petrino even after he flirted with other schools the first time only because after what went down at Arkansas I would hope he learned his lesson. With not being a fan of Pitino I wouldn't have hired him in the first place lol.

It still doesn't make sense to me on a couple of fronts.

#1. Say UofL did have the game plan, plays, whatever. They would be in the UofL area of the locker rooms, offices, etc. How would a Wake Forest person be in that area to find such documents? If the documents were there, they would be kept under wraps. Not left out for anyone to find as they were passing through.

#2. Wake was leading in the 3rd quarter. If UofL had them pegged from before the game started, how would Wake be leading in the 3rd? With Wake leading that late in the game, it's pretty obvious that UofL wasn't on top of what Wake was running.

UofL exploded about mid way through the 3rd and scored 30 something unanswered. You honestly think UofL said "let's play this cool, let Wake lead until midway through the third then we'll unload on them"?

Now if UofL blasted them out of the gate, I'd give more credibility to this have possibly happened. But it just doesn't make sense at all with the way the game played out, and that these documents were found in a UofL coaches area by Wake Forest personnel.

Does the visiting team have free access to the UK locker room and coaches areas at CWS? Of course not, and I'm sure they don't at UofL either.

It just doesn't add up to me.

Has jurich, BP, Slick Rick, hurtt, or anyone else connected with transfer u ever done anything bad?

How can you breathe through all that sand?

Obviously you didn't read the rest of my posts in this thread. Read the one on page 3 where somebody asked me about Katina Powell. My answer may surprise you.

Yeah, I'm going to circle the wagons at first, that's human nature. Then I wait for the truth. In some good examples, UK fans were quick to circle the wagons around Chuck Hayes and the rape allegations. UofL vultures were pouncing from every direction, then it turns out Hayes was innocent. UK fans circled the wagons around Barker busting some dude upside the head with a beer bottle in Richmond. Turns out he was guilty of that one.

Hell, Lloyd Tubman got royally screwed by UK. Accused of rape, dismissed from the school, then found innocent. Did you circle the wagons around UK for punishing an innocent man? Of course you did. That's human nature. The determining factor is do you accept the truth when it's made apparent? I do.

There's too many unanswered questions with this, and too many things that simply don't make sense for anyone to know what the truth is right now. The people that know the truth, including Wake Forest because they've done their investigation and fired the guy, aren't saying what happened.

I haven't said "UofL is INNOCENT". I've said there's a lot of things here that don't make sense. And I think if you look at it from a neutral point of view, You'd agree that it doesn't make a lot of sense for the reasons I've already outlined. I'm waiting for the truth.

I'll even throw you another bone: I think (purely my own suspicion) the reason that we're not hearing anything else about the shooting last week is because a UofL player possibly had a gun and possibly returned fire in self defense. It's well documented that party crashers fired the first shots, but then things get real quiet and fuzzy after that. Again, doesn't make sense to keep so hush hush about it from a certain time frame forward. Vivid detail up until the still unknown and at large party crasher fired shots, then silence from that moment forward. You have to look for what makes sense.

Nothing with this WF case makes sense. Read Eric Crawfords column on it today on wdrb website. He basically says some of the same things. Why isn't anyone just saying what happened, why aren't there any details, and do the things we know make sense?

Appreciate your thoughts, a few of my own:

1. One major difference between the UK and UL fanbase is that UK fans ARE willing to criticize UK. We win a lot, we have a good athletic program, but you still see a lot of criticism toward Barnhart, Stoops, Mitchell, Gary Henderson - hell, even Cal gets criticized around here.

2. I don't trust Eric Crawford, he is the lone apologist remaining for Pitino (even Bozich jumped ship when Pitino became indefensible).

3. Much credit to you for your honesty on what you expect to have happened at the gun party. Hadn't considered that angle, but it makes sense. Either way, it seems like UL just cannot get past its tendency to bunker in tough situations and try and stonewall the media. I'll throw you a bone, and say that I believed the "smoke" around the Stoops rumors in late September / early October.

I don't have a problem with the "let's wait until all of the facts come out" but your own board immediately assumes that UL is innocent even on the 20th scandal. Why aren't more of your ilk questioning what's happening at UL? If I were a UL graduate, I am tired of being a punchline...

He doesn't know what rules are, and never will. His kind is what's wrong with college sports. Look at his coaches in basketball and football. Would you want your child to play for one of them. I sure wouldn't. I'm from the old school, who believes in winning, but if you have to win by cheating, it is a hollow victory.
I think Rick Pitno is one of the best college coaches in the game today, but he also has one of the worse set of morals. I would not want him at UK again.
There is no doubt in my mind, that Petrino is a good offensive mind, but the only morals he has, are bad. The one thing that a lot of "Old Coggers" like me, can't stand, is LYING. Tell me the truth, and I can live with it, even though I may not like it. I'm sure a lot of fans on here feel just as I do about lying.
I think we have the right man leading the UK football team, at least I hope so.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Right on.

OK, let's see:

1) Interviewed with Auburn during his first stint at UL and lied about it to his bosses and to the fans.

2) Left the Atlanta falcons in the dark of night, not bothering to talk with his assistant coaches, ownership, or players and left them notes on their lockers.

3) Avoided legal hiring practices in getting his mistress a job at Arkansas.

4) Lied to his bosses about his affair, getting his mistress a job, and many other things while at Arkansas.

That's at least four, and I believe there are others that I'm probably forgetting.

The below tells you all you need to know that Louisville was given the gameplan

Petrino apparently cheated to win a game. And it was probably easy to do. When Elrod coached at Wake Forest, he was co-coordinator of the passing game. His other co-coordinator, Lonnie Galloway, now works on Petrino’s staff. That sound you hear should be Galloway calling his lawyer."

If you type something in a different font, doesn't make it true.

#1. Pitino is a self righteous, holier than thou, pompous ***. None of those things are illegal though. He slept with another woman. Nothing illegal there either. What bothers me is that he preaches to do things the right way. Early in his career he kicked a bunch of guys off the team for breaking minor rules while he was banging Sypher. Again, nothing illegal, but a hypocrite at a minimum.

#2. BP had some serious character issues. I loved the way he coached the first go round, but hated the off the field stuff. Again, nothing illegal. He got smacked down hard at Arkansas. An arrogant man can be humbled. I was willing to give him a second chance because people can and do change. Up until this WF allegation, tell me anything he's done wrong at UofL? Nothing. #3. Katina Powell. At a minimum, no one was their brothers keeper. I think there was more cover up than admitted to as explained earlier by no security guards or security cameras ever being mentioned over a 4 year span.

#4 (as a freebie). Just the general way that too many embarrassing things keep happening. Some of it may be circumstance and bad luck, but no way all of it is. The shooting may be as simple as what we know: Strangers crashed a party and shots wound up being fired. If that's the case no one at UofL did anything wrong, but it just adds to the list and it gets old and embarrasing. Katina Powell isn't even settled with the NCAA yet, and we're having to deal with a shooting and now Wakileaks. Can't we just have some calm and play some games?

First, I will give Petrino and Louisville credit because they have continued success despite the quarterback. However, let's not pretend like Pass is going to be on the level of Jackson. Pass could be a damn good quarterback, but Jackson came in a bit under the radar and exploded into something that no one expected him to be.

Louisville was hanging on the brink of a football playoff. They had already lost one very close game and could ill afford to lose another one if they wanted a playoff bid. Every little advantage to make sure you beat a team and get into that playoff is huge. Not to mention that it could greatly relieve some stress off of the coaches. There are a whole lot of reasons why Louisville would want to take that game plan. Especially after they struggled against Virginia and somewhat against Duke. This may very well take out some risk of a lack of player motivation effecting the game.

One of the biggest reasons for BP using the info is that if jurich found out about it and he didn't used it he would have been fired on the spot. LOL

And actually that thought has quite a bit of merit.

So which makes more sense, a former basketball assistant providing entertainment to recruits that the head coach knew nothing about, nor did anyone else in the administration, or a football radio guy giving out a game plan to a Petrino assistant to hurt his own school, that Petrino says is a Wake issue?

http://www.si.com/college-football/2016/12/13/wake-forest-game-plan-leak-louisville-bobby-petrino

No matter what happens going further, I truly enjoy Petrino and Pitino staying at UL for future entertainment.

Incredible this school is even able to compete IMO.

Incredible that they are allowed to compete, IMO. But then the incompetent NCAA is in charge.

Is there any proof that he didn't act alone ? The NCAA seems to think that he did act alone. It seems silly to say otherwise unless there is proof. I fully get that UK fans there is no way that Pitino didn't know or should have known. However at the same time UK fans will defend Calipari saying he had no idea what happened at UMass and Memphis.

Now personally I have never been a Pitino fan and will be very happy the day the man retires.

Well, the NCAA did investigate BOTH those situations thoroughly, at least well enough to hand out major punishment in both cases. And in BOTH cases they took the extraordinary action of saying that Cal was NOT guilty in either case.

Quite unlike them just trying to disappear and make NO effort to investigate hurtt AND Transfer U after they botched the investigation of hurtt so badly at the U.

Here's where we get into another complexity of the NCAA and investigations. If the NCAA investigates and one likes their decision, it's as good as gold. Cal being the example in this case.

However, in the next paragraph you can bad mouth the NCAA because they do botch so many investigations and say they aren't worth the paper they're written on. Miami being the prime example in that case.

So when one is using NCAA findings to defend their argument, it can still go either way because the NCAA has shown complete incompetence at times, such as with Miami.

Not trying to implicate Cal at all. Just pointing that the NCAA doesn't have a real good record of getting things right. They completely blew it with Miami, and UNC has been shoving their noses in it for years.

And they completely blew it by not investigating the NROTY at the U AND UL when they knew he was probably the worst cheater in history while at the U, (how in hell did he do it a thousand miles from the beaches at Transfer U?) and then he brought TWELVE commits, over half the class, from Florida in 2010, and all FIVE of his four stars from Miami when Louisville was a thousand miles away and not a very good program. The foundation of all of Strong's success. I always wondered why BW, that was so close to his dear single hard working mother would make her spend all her time AND money traveling a thousand miles every weekend to see him play, when she could have just driven across town to watch him, and maybe did his laundry and cooked him a meal on weekends.

But she did manage to travel all those long miles to watch him play almost every weekend, another mystery for a single hard working mother..

Like I said, it must have been the beaches on the Ohio River where you aren't allowed to eat the fish.

The most plausible explanation was they had access to the information and did not use at first, game was tight and they went in at halftime, the asst. who worked with the guy and the coaches took another glance at this information and decided to use since game was in doubt.

It could have been up in press box and was given to staff member next door before game or at half.

I will say that most schools will send GA's to other teams hotel, if team is having dinner or leaving for stadium, most will rifle through rooms, trash, meeting areas at hotel, dinner/breakfast area's, checking to see if anything is written on blackboard, check to see if scouting reports or play books are left or thrown away. Probably still goes on, this used to be common place maybe not as much.
Reports of back in day of hotel employees or staff being dressed as house keepers, maintenance, go into players rooms when they are in meetings.

Can't tell you about the other players, but I can tell you the back story on Bridgewater.

Verbaled to Miami. Randy Shannon was fired, so TB backed out. TB's next choice was LSU. The visit was set up and ready to go, then Les Miles called and changed TB's visit because they wanted to host Zach Mettenberger that weekend and it was the only weekend he had available. Teddy took it as he was plan B behind Mettenberger, and was mad about it, so he started looking some more.

Eli Rogers was TBs best friend growing up and all through High school together. Eli was ALREADY at UofL. Eli talked Teddy into coming for a visit to UofL. While on his visit he was told he would have the opportunity to compete to start right away. Will Stein was the starting QB. TB knew it wouldn't take long for him to beat out Stein, his best friend was on the team, so that's what he decided to do.

So that's how Teddy wound up at UofL. Had Les Miles kept TB's original visit date, Teddy would have been at LSU.

Let's see...... Mettenberger or Bridgewater? No wonder Miles got fired! ;)

The actual most plausible explanation is the one spelled out in numerous articles, and even posts in this very thread: Wake found out and changed plans.

The actual outcome of the game is irrelevant to whether or not it happened.

It happened. Louisville attempted to cheat, failed, and won anyway because Wake sucks.

Cool, appreciate the candor. I could quibble with a few of your details (e.g. I would argue that Petrino has further sullied the university reputation in round 2 by taking on every cast-off from other teams (e.g. Fields) despite character issues), but I think your statement is pretty fair overall.

Ok on your list the only thing that is called a scandal is what happened at Arkansas.

With the Auburn thing I am a number of coaches or their reps talk to other schools without their current boss knowing. I am not saying it is right but it happens and he got busted.

The Falcons thing I don't agree with how he left at all and would hope if given the chance to go back in time that he would do it different or not even take the job in the first place. At the same time Steve Spurrier quit on South Carolina in the middle of the season.

Then we just have to disagree on the definition of a scandal. How isn't it a scandal when a situation has a name - the interview with Auburn was titled "planegate" and was a huge black eye to both Petrino and to Auburn.

When WF first said something after the game, Rick Neuheisel said the same thing as you are saying about teams will send GA's to search trash cans and that it happens more often then fans would believe it does.

I guess we will just have to disagree cause I view a scandal as like the fake classes at UNC, the strippers at Louisville, GA's doing players work at Notre Dame, a Emery envelope coming open at UK, Reggie Bush Housing at USC, you know stuff where the NCAA gets involved.

Cool, appreciate the candor. I could quibble with a few of your details (e.g. I would argue that Petrino has further sullied the university reputation in round 2 by taking on every cast-off from other teams (e.g. Fields) despite character issues), but I think your statement is pretty fair overall.

I get your point on that, but we're talking about 19 year old kids. I did some stupid stuff when I was that age, (hell, I still do and I'm 50 now. LOL). People, especially kids are going to do some stupid stuff. In society you pay your price, then you're allowed to rejoin society. Fields paid for what he did by literally being humiliated nationally. Then he got the second chance we all get. I can't recall a single issue with Fields since he's been at UofL.

And let's be truthful..... If he weren't a stud athlete, no one would care about a guy in Texas getting in some trouble and getting kicked out of school.

Let's also be truthful and say that because he is a stud athlete, someone looking to improve their program was going to give him another chance. UofL did, and it's worked out well for all parties.

Drew Barker bashed some dude upside the head with a beer bottle. That's underaged drinking and assault, both crimes. Did you demand that he be thrown off the team or were you okay with him paying his dues and getting a second chance? I was okay with UK punishing him and giving him a second (and last) chance.

If Petrino is so bad a coach Louisville struggled for three quarters against Wake and he had their game plan, then he is a really bad coach or slow reader.
Either that or he dragged out the info late in the game.
Cards won by thirty plus. Could have been more. Can't stomach Petrino, but kind of meh about this stuff

From my understandings, and I admit I don't know all the details, there were camera's at Minardi but they only save the recordings for certain amount of time. Do you really believe that a security guard is gonna tell on or stop a coach from bringing in girls to a basketball dorm? Come on now.

As far as what were Wake's people doing in UL's area, I haven't seen it reported where they found it. I agree that it would be stupid to just leave it in a common area but people do stupid stuff every day. Everybody loses stuff, sometimes they lose very important stuff.

Your 3rd point, and one you keep repeating, is why were the games so close? Maybe just maybe UL wasn't as good as you would believe. UL also struggled with 2-10 Virginia and 4-8 Duke. Wake beat both of those 2 but lose to UL by 32.

Now here is a question-if UL did have the game plan do you think the radio guy just gave it to them? Could UL have paid him for it? I doubt very seriously that he's just giving them away unless he was betting the crap out of the opposition. FWIW Wake went 6-6 against the spread this year.

And the reason the focus is on Louisville is because they were the only ones they've found so far that we're slimy enough to take the guy up on it. They're not picking on Louisville. They were just dirty enough to play along when the other coaches and programs said no thanks.
As if we needed more proof that they are who we have always known they are......

Louisville fans: You can't spell "delusional" without UL

So, back on topic.

Jurich now admits that they accepted the leaked information from this character and that the entire coaching staff studied it. However, it's no big deal since it wasn't particularly helpful in spite of their best efforts.

This after Petrino publicly stated that they didn't get any of this information.

What a unbelievably trashy operation. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that a child porn ring was being run out of that place.

Barker got sucker punched at the dorm after a fight. It was another player who was rumored to have hit someone at the club.

Okay, say I'm wrong on the names. Still you had a player bust somebody upside the head with a beer bottle in a bar in Richmond. Underaged drinking, assault, and 40 miles from home. The underaged drinking, and especially the assault can and do carry jail time. We're talking possible felony assault. Did you demand the player be kicked off the team, or were you OK with UK punishing him and giving him a second chance?

Was said player charged ? Hard to kick a player off the team if he isn't charged with anything.
