They were conference champs a year ago and went out in the second round.

This team was not supposed to make any noise. Most people (myself included), figured they would be 1-3 at this point in the season. Here they are 4-0 and you are ripping them because of what you feel is a "soft" schedule. The reality is that many teams up North this year are soft. But you still have to play and you still have to win and that is what Hersey is doing.

I never said state champs and neither did Newt. But give credit where credit is due.

And BTW, Maine West is a pretty good team as well. You need to get out more.

Did Hersey have a bunch of sophomores up on varsity last year? Palatine's JV(sophs) played Hersey last year and lit them up for 48 points. I was figuring Hersey would have a "down" junior class next year, but from what I hear it's alot of juniors playing and they're 4-0...so I'm trying to figure out "what gives" and square up what I saw last year vs this year. Was wondering if it might have been like what PHS has this year..soph team struggling but the 7 best sophomores are up on varsity and 5-6 of them see significant time/start, so what soph squad is doing is not truly indicative.

They did not. Hersey was mostly a senior-dominated squad last season. They are just getting the most out of what they have.
