Ok so now that I have had a chance to look at 5A here are the teams I think can contend.

Nazareth
Montini
JCA
Hillcrest
Simeon
Sacred heart

From the looks of it, 5A is no cakewalk. I remember an ESL team that was “unbeatable.” Had a player that is now in the pro football hall of fame. Guess what? They got beat.

Confidence is one thing. Cockiness, arrogance and the feeling of being infallible is something else.

If you think they are unbeatable I would suggest you watch tape from the Neuqua game. While Neuqua couldn’t stop ESL, ESL didn’t exactly stop Neuqua.
A final involving ESL v. Naz/Montini would be fun to watch. Especially if it’s a slugfest like the JCA/Montini classic of a few years back.

Well, well, well, flyerforlife, so generous of you to suggest we "Just enjoy football while its [sic] here". Very easy attitude to have when your team is guaranteed a championship trophy Thanksgiving weekend.

Newt, still waiting for you tell us who is going to beat ESL. I'm not shy about telling you and anyone else that NO ONE will. The very least you can is to mention a few teams that may beat them, but I guess I can understand if you don't. You're playing apples and oranges bringing up LWE. Let me hit the key point for you again, SLOWLY. The Flyers are in 5A this year, 5A, not 8A as LWE was last year.

Undercenter3rd1,
none of the things you mention happening would hurt ESL in 5A. I'll say it one more time for you too; they will be in 5A. What is so hard for you, Newt and yes, NapervilleBuck to understand? Man, I thought you guys knew football. My bad.

I think we are being trolled. There is no way someone can be this arrogant. Especially when you only beat NV by TWO points. You literally almost lost a game.

Isn't Naz 7A?

Newt, regarding your point no. 8, explain who exactly is going to beat ESL this year going forward. A Flyers team in 8A would leave room for discussion, but given their remaining Southwestern Conference and the fact that they will be in 5A in the post-season, I am tempted to rudely comment on your post. But in fairness, I'll wait for your analysis regarding who could beat them.
Perhaps Montini, but that's all I got.

Hinter likes to lie in the weeds waiting for a sure fire winner and hitches his wagon. Did the same with PR back in 2017.

I might have done that in 2016 also, but not sure. All I know is that it was a 28-0 two-year run for the Wolves, and I got grief from some on here for saying no one was going to beat them with Superman at the helm. Live and don't learn, I suppose.

LOL. I don’t know if your handle comes from the Netflix show but it was one of my favorites.

I'm keeping my promise about not commenting on you-know-who from here on out, but boy you make it tough. Sitting here biting my fingers to keep them away from the keyboard so I don't comment on your post. I must admit however, that it is going to be fun posting on Saturday afternoon of championship weekend.

Been around this game a long time Hinter. I’ve learned many lessons over time. One of them being, if you have to spend a lot of time telling everyone how good you are, you’re probably not.

See you in 10 weeks.

In 2016, Montini beat the Wolves in the snow bowl at Montini. Montini went undefeated that season winning the state championship versus Crete Monee. Guess you were wrong on that one Hinterland. But I do enjoy your posts.

I think the snow bowl was 2015.

Oops! My bad, and heartfelt apology to the Hinterlands where ever that may be. I was at that game and it was one of the best high school football games I have ever been to. PR's QB Evans was a soph but played like a senior. Time ran out with PR knocking on Montini's goal line. As an aside, I almost killed myself walking down the slippery snow filled stairs, but luckily I was saved by a beautiful Montini mom. Time flies doesn't it

ESL is the favorite in 5A and possibly 6A, and I'll be rooting for them unless they meet up with my Hilltoppers.

BUT: ESL on a bad day against a good team and that team exploiting their weaknesses (see below).

If a middling program like Neuqua, with no talent and an old school crappy field, can hang 48 on ESL what will real football programs do to them?
The conversation you had with the gentleman bemoaning the millionaires not having turf, is one of the few bits on here that resulted in a true audible expression of amusement, aka, lol.

We learned that although they were predicted to finish near the bottom of the Dukane this year....St. Charles East might not be dead yet. Currently 3 - 1 with Geneva up next, a playoff game is within reach. Good luck Saints!

Absolutely no way personally offended. ESL is my mother’s school, class of 1951, January.

You use the word “would” when it should be “could.” Then comma maybe.
You are right. Poor choice of words.
