According to CNN.com, Cecil's brother, Jericho who had taken over ruling the pride, was shot and killed today illegally by another hunter.

Too late buddy we've all moved on, no one cares anymore. Everyone just kind of lost interest after the dentist's life was completely destroyed. The new outrage is upon us: apparently H&M outfitters is underpaying people in singapore to make their halter tops, lets get em!!!!

Meh. Cecil was 13 years old, life expectancy for lions is 10-14 years per the Google. He was at or near the end anyway. At least he will be immortalized as a full mount in the dentist's trophy room.

If he had shot an immature lion, then there would be something to be pissed over. The man does not deserve having his life and career ruined.

I think that there are babies being harvested for their body parts but all anyone cares about is a lion that got shot.

It sucks that it happened but it is what it is. An animal dying.
...thank you TB....Happens every day in the wild...Just like abortion...but a much bigger deal ...How dare someone do such a horrible thing to a precious animal...The killing of the unborn...How much can you give me for the body parts...

You know something else that has me irked. It's all these young lions running around and having unprotected sex. Some of them are only 2 or 3 years old when they get knocked up. And of course nobody is even considering marriage. They are just ready to jump into bed with whomever happens to be walking by at the time. And of course, when the cub is born, who is expected to take care of it? Joe Taxpayer that is who. These protected sanctuaries don't come cheap. And of course no one considers getting a place of their own so that they finally stop taking from the government and maybe actually give back for a change. These socialist lions are ruining the country! Get a job and a hair cut ya hippies!

If Planned Parenthood was really doing their job they would be out there trying to strap a condom on a lion instead of letting the whole pride suckle on the government tit.

check this out. This is amazing. As someone said earlier, the lion was old and his days were numbered. Why not martyr him and clean up on American guilt? Zimbabwe will net millions more from his death than they would by his remaining days.

Word in the jungle is that Big Cec had this whole thing planned for years. Evidently he was often heard quoting Neil Young's Hey Hey, My My. When he was a cub he told Jericho that he was going to grow up and, "become the biggest rock star this pride has ever seen and go out with a bang." It's all going to be in biography that should hit the shelves in the next few months. Talks are already in the works for his biopic, "Who is Lion now?"

Going to add to this discussion my classless thoughts as per usual. Hate me. All parties involved in these "hunts" have some serious moral deficiencies, but none more so than the groups with responsibility for protecting the resources. And who are those groups?

In the States, hunting is well regulated and structured to an extent that applies all moral responsibility to the individual. Using the Commonwealth as just one example, the taking of game in Kentucky requires organized process and includes limits - severe penalties for violation. Why? Because the groups responsible for protecting those resources have done just that. And who are those groups? The people of the Commonwealth and the organizations created through their revenue streams, the result of our ability to be productive and civilized, which runs long.

When we stop caring about our land and Her resources people from the outside will come in and exploit them for their selfish purposes. When that happens, it will not be their fault. It will be ours. But simply, some cultures have never achieved a standard of productivity and civility to prosper on their own, and to take care of themselves on their own. So when something immoral or even marginally questionable happens on their turf it is never only their fault. This is the world.

If he wanted to kill something he should have been a Dr. in an abortion clinic and he could have legally killed all the infants he wanted.

Have not read all of the post here so apologies if this has already been stated. While I do not advocated killing animals for sport (think it is wrong), anyone who is outraged by this and supports abortion (killing a human baby) is a hypocrite. Carry on.

Anybody that brings abortion into a conversation about hunting lions in Africa is an imposing ideologue. I don't agree with abortion but I'm not a woman whose body some men want to control just like they want to control the conversation.

What a unique perspective - did you think that up all by yourself?
