We have that In Daniels this year but were not going to get that every year. There is also very little deception in the air raid. Its just like a standard Pro set with 3+ WR.
I am not saying that RR the man is the answer but I do agree with the posters who think his philosophy is. Wvu is the only school that I can think of that has both run the spread option and Air Raid. We had much better success when we ran a spread option type of an offense. On Saturday we saw what a well run spread option offense can be. The Kansas offense has the ability to run and Pass. It has the ability to control tempo in ways that the Air Raid offenses don't. It also has a ton of misdirection plays and plays that have deception. If you go back to last season their offense has been keeping Defenses off balance. The spread option offense also doesn't require as much NFL talent. The problem with the Air Raid is you have to have A QB that can make all the throws for it to be effective. We have that In Daniels this year but were not going to get that every year. There is also very little deception in the air raid. Its just like a standard Pro set with 3+ WR. Everyone knows what you're going to do and the teams that have 4 DL that can get pressure on the QB and corners that cover receivers like syrup on ice cream have no problem stopping it. I saw a post on one of the other boards the guy mentioned that no team running an Air Raid offense has ever won a National Championship. Urban Meyer won 3 National Championships running a spread option. You have to remember that not all Air Raids or Spread options are the same and what's best for one school might not be what's best for the other. In Wvu's case we have had very little success winning big games with the Air Raid while the Spread option delivered us are greatest wins.
