What does this do to OM in recruiting and their future?

I mean a team that has very high expectations went 1-7 in the SEC, has player problems (suspensions, kicked off, etc.), maybe looking at staff changes, and definitely have a QB problem. It just seems that the Bears are facing some lean years real soon. It's kind of ironic that the "rednecks" from Arkansas warned the "elitist" from $**% what they were getting when they hired Nutt, and damn if they weren't right. Poor recruiting, no discipline, and poor player development from year to year. It's very evident that Arkansas got the better of this deal, and has $**% wondering what the hell they gotten themselves into, and don't throw the Cotton Bowls in my face. He did that with O's boys, and that is officially over now!!

the longer that coaching search drags out the more damage it will do. Ole Miss has some great players, especially on the D-line even with the loss of Lockett.Since they have talent, people are going to question whether Nutt is past his prime and whether or not he can recruit to UM like Coach O did. The quarterback situation with Cotton leaving left a big mark on the face of that program also. They have nothing positive going for them after tonight and they are going to have to spin some hard stories to keep the recruits they have, not to mention pick up new ones.

And it's not going to get any better by this time next year either. They're praying Mullen leaves right now, because they know they're screwed if he stays.

I don't know that it have that much of an effect on this year's recruits. Losing Nix may cause them to lose a player or two. As far as next year's recruits, I think it could, but it's not just Ole Miss having problems- it's also MSU having a lot of success in so many ways from on the field and going to bowls, and winning Egg Bowls head to head, to our gameday atmosphere, and having great coaches.

So, our recruiting is as much what we're doing as what they're not.

I think an example right now is Quay Evans from Morton. About this time a year ago or so, he was all Ole Miss and may have even given a verbal commitment to them or was close per Yancy. But now, it's pretty much MSU and Bama, and that's because of the hard work of our coaches.

It's pretty clear Mullen wasn't some hack trying to get headlines. He knew exactly what he was doing. He knew he needed to take this state back from OM and he has done that. We got absolutely skull drug in Oxford two years ago, we fired our incompetent coach, and OM claimed they owned the state. Enter Dan Mullen showing he wasn't scared of OM one little bit. Our team layed a giant ambush last year in Starkville and swung the pendullum. That win propelled this program into what you now see and showed that OM had squandered what it had and was on the way down. People ridiculed Mullen for his "on the rise" comments last year and even had the audacity to bring it back up this year and try to make a big deal of it. Fact is, Mullen has been proven absolutely right. There is one program on the rise in this state and that program is not Ole Miss. Boo hoo if that hurts feelings, it is the truth.

Dan Mullen knows exactly what he's doing. Our last successful coach wasn't afraid to talk some smack to the Bears.

Does Urban treat Florida State the same way?

Regardless, Dan's attitude is what MSU needs. For far too long, we had a lot of fans that had the "aw shucks, we're MSU let's not trash talk because we're going to lose at some point" attitude and then all of a sudden you have Dan Mullen come in and call them !*$*!%@!$*@%@$#%@**- but he has backed it up. The "aw shucks" attitude actually caused division because you had some people that really wanted to compete and then some that were beat down. But Dan's attitude has kind of unified everybody and made everybody believe that "hey, maybe we can win." And even when we don't win, we look respectable. I can't really ask for much more than that.

And Nutt started that "on the rise" stuff because he was the one that said something about people swimming to the boat or whatever, and then after the Egg Bowl last year, Dan gets that mic and says "There's one school in this state that's on the rise, and it ain't them". That was about as awesome as it's going to get.

When Mullen responded after we beat them, he is all of the sudden way out of line. The media are a bunch of morons and the bears can't handle MSU having swagger.
