It means experience and adversity in January leads to success in March....

We are a tournament team. We will exceed 20 wins with ease.

What we need to progression at our deficiencies.

seen this by several posters lately.

They mean that the team will make a run in the NCAAs. I disagree, it's hard win in the tourney when you can't shoot or make your free throws, but I am no basketball guru so who knows.

It's a long season. Things could be drastically different ( for better or worse) come March.

i remember wvu dominating uconn in a january 2011 regular season game.

flowers absolutely destroyed their young forward.

the rest is uconn history and that young forward is in the nba.

It means that Holton will be there.
It means that dealing with Big 12 teams 18 times will harden the Mountaineers so that March Madness won't be quite as formidable..
And it means that NO team in America, even #1 seeds, will want to face Press Virginia in the 2nd game of the week with only 1 day to prepare for it.
In college basketball, the regular season is just conditioning for March Madness. In football, only 4 teams have a chance at the national title. In basketball, 68 teams only have to win 6 in a row to do it. OK. 4 teams have to win 7, but WVU isn't in that camp.

March Madness is basketball democracy at its finest.

You need to call your doctor....

That day Flowers had 7pts..... And UConn didn't have a pro in their front court.... And WVU only won by 9, after late game foul shots

Every team has some problems. This is a team that has potential for a nice tournament. I don't expect anything more, really. I never do. My wish is, because March Madness is my favorite sporting event, is to have WVU in my bracket - anything more is gravy.

I'm relaxed. Just saying we all know about his history of decision making, so no need to rehash it. Just hope it doesn't happen again.

Either way, this team appears to have serious deficiencies even with JH. I'm not sure they are fixable this year with this roster.

I think you are an alarmist. A team doesn't magically win 17 games. You are spreading a lot of panic over a loss that anyone could have predicted. You aren't alone among the whiners but it's sad.

I wouldn't consider anyone whining in this thread, which is much different from expressing a concern.

I don't think we are a bad team and I'm confident we have a coach that can get the most out of his roster, but I think the team peaked early and it will be a battle to get more than 20 wins. I really hope I'm wrong because this is a good year for WVU to make a run in the tourney with no truly great teams out there.

Well for one, I don't see the foul shooting improving this season. Watching Macon at the line is painful.

But does not every season bring distaste for our foul shooting through the first half of the season and then it does get better? We shot very well yesterday from the line yesterday...

That's quite the assumption at this point, this certainly isn't his first time being in trouble.

Guilty of being positive.

If Holton didn't get the wakeup call this time, he's really dim. I think seeing what he has done to his teammates might straighten Holton out for the rest of the season.

I prefer to see the glass as half-full. And I'm right far more often than wrong.

We'll see.

The forward was Jeremy Lamb, currently of the Charlotte Hornets: http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/jeremy-lamb-1.html

Keaton caught in a LIE.... AGAIN

Now he wont be back on this thread or he will ignore this post. lol..

Jeremy Lamb never played forward for UConn.... He was the STARTING SG on that team, even per the box score I linked

And he had 2 less points than Flowers that day.... Only to you is that being "destroyed"

there you go, AGAIN...doubling down on LIES.

Lamb both played and was listed on the roster as a G-F ... that's guard-forward..

look, why pick a fight with your lies???? It makes no sense and is suspect I am not the only poster that finds it troubling.

The starting lineup is clearly listed on the link I provided...

Lamb was the starting shooting guard.....

PG - Walker
SG - Lamb
SF - Roscoe Smith
PF - Neils Giffey
C - Alex Oriakhi

Unlike you, I actually was at that game. We put Mazz on Kemba and Truck face-guarded Jeremy Lamb from baseline to baseline....

I don't know if this team will be "fine" or not come postseason. But it very well could be. February, imo, is going to be brutal. Come out of February with your head up high, have an on court leader or two emerge, and completely buy in one more time and this team, with the right match-ups, could have a nice little post-season run.

The B12 tourney could be tougher than the first 2-3 games of the NCAA tourney.

I watched Lamb play a ton. He was a great player who was an ice cold killer during their national championship run. I never saw him play the Forward. He was small.

But that's just what I saw.

played forward in college, depending on the matchup.. flowers guarded him. heck, he was listed as forward in the uconn roster

but that is not the issue.

the issue is why lie on a message board. what's the point in that, keaton?

Shooting guard

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Lamb

as the No. 19 shooting guard and the No. 76 player in the nation in 2010.[3]

Again, that game's starting five is posted above.... Roscoe Smith was the SF, who John Flowers "dominated".....

But really, that's not the point of this thread..... How's the concourse congestion?!

wikipedia.. LOL LOL LOL

another question for you...

why can't you stop when it's over? it's sad.

You might want to actually look at the box score you are linking next time. Giffey played 1 minute in that game while Shabazz Napier played 34... Kemba Walker 40.

So please tell me if Mazz was on Kemba and Truck was face guarding Lamb, who was guarding Napier? There were 34 minutes in that game where they played 2 PGs, which means Lamb was being guarded by Flowers.

Didn't Flowers often match up on the opponents best offensive player? I remember him guarding penlty of Guards (might be wrong).

I watched that UCONN team a ton. He was Napier's off guard. Maybe he played some SF.

I remember watching that UCONN team at Bados on Beverly in Mt. Lebo. I swear I was sitting next to Sean Miller Fan from the Pitt forum, if you know who that is...Good bar conversation, but out there...

Watched WVU beat Kentucky for the Final 4 @ The Bottle Shop -TONS of Mountaineer's there - fun times.

We'll be fine by tournament time. What's not fine now?

17-4, tied for 1st. Have been ranked since winning Vegas in November.

We went 1-1 this week. Beat K-State by 15. That sounds fine to me.

We aren't undefeated - also some of our players broke a sweat during the games...they must not be getting worked in practice.
