He was the 2B from Sumrall that signed with us, didn't make his grades, and ended up at PRCC. He hit .329 last year with a little pop in his bat and a few stolen bases. I expected us to re-sign him this past November because he'll be finishing up his sophomore season in Juco.

Anybody know if he signed with any one and/or his pro prospects? I remember it hurt when we lost him to grades.

As far as I know he has not signed with anyone. Personally, I don't think his pro prospects are very good. Lot of questions about how his bat will translate to the pro game and to D-I for that matter- .329 is not very impressive for a pro prospect coming out of the Mississippi JUCO system. If anyone takes him in the draft, it will be late.

Trey Porter- a walk-on for us this year from Mississippi Gulf Coast hit over .407 to give you a frame of reference.

He also has some big time character issues.

For him to go to MSU, I think he is going to have to walk-on. He's not a need with Adam Frazier, Mathew Britton, Demarcus Henderson on the team already and William DuPont coming in next year and then we have a commitment from Reid Humphries who is maybe the top junior in the state this year and I think he is a SS himself.

Allegedly, he was supposed to go to USM, but I have not seen anything official on that.

I noticed two other names on the PRCC roster of interest:<div>
Krisjon Wilkerson - not a surprise, but noted.</div><div>
Also, a FR outfielder named Marcus Lawton, Jr. Assuming his dad was the former MLB player, I imagine this kid can play. He's 6'4: 190 OF.</div><div>

i know chase, not close to him by any means, but i've know him since he was a small kid. i was somewhat relieved that he never made it to campus because of his character. he's just not the type of player that i feel that cohen is recruiting and building our program with. he's only relied off of his talent his whole life and has never worked on it to improve.
