As pissed as I was about the Auburn loss, the day after, I was able to see that even though we played like absolute horseshit, we had a chance to at least tie the game at the end. And especially considering how they ran all over us last year, I thought we were making some progress.
Coming into tonight's game, I really thought we had a chance. Between being close last year and the fact that LSU seems to be taking steps backwards under Miles, I thought we would at the very least play close. Apparently I was sorely mistaken. I know it's only one game but the fact that, aside from the opening drive of the second half, we just weren't competitive was really frustrating. Frankly, I'm shocked that the yardage totals are what they are because they seemed to move the ball at will and we never really seemed to be able to have a sustained drive.
Next up is Georgia and I want to feel like I have some hope but my wool is completely gone. They are just as talented as LSU, even without AJ Greene, and LSU out physicalled us all over the field. We will need to play our asses off to have a chance against UGA and I worry that these last two losses are going to be demoralizing to the team and that we won't show up.
Bottom line is that we need to go back to basics and figure out what we do best and find a way to be successful doing it. We can't run it every snap but we also don't have the OL (or WR or QB for that matter) to just stand back and be a pocket passing team. I haven't given up on Mullen yet but I think he's still got a lot to prove.
