Not sure why he isn't on the other side. We could definitely use an upgrade over Lawrence/Gatling. That position scares me.

the Lawrence/ Gatling position is a hybrid safety/ linebacker while the other OLB is the more conventional, pass rusher type.

He's in the conversation. I think he'll earn playing time as the year goes on. But I've always been concerned about his speed. I only saw him once or twice in highschool, and even though he was a great defensive player -making plays all over the field, I just thought he looked kind of slow. Maybe someone who's watched him in practice can tell whether or not that's true. But that was just my impression. Could be what's holding him back when compared to his competition.

about who needs to play where right now? Apparently he is pretty pleased with Lawrence and Gatling to have Skinner backing up KJ

Would I like for us to have another stud OLB? Yes. Was I curious why Skinner is on the other side? Yes. Did I say that I feel like I know better than Diaz about who needs to play where??? No. Seriously, why do you feel the need to twist the verbiage of every single post?

I alsothink your are going to see formations where we only have C. White and KJ at linebacker with Lawrence/Gatling on the bench andan extra DB in the game. Example would be Langston/Broomfield/Banks/Mitchell/Whitley as the 5 defensive backs.. Diaz will not be vanilla. And I'm not just talking about your normal nickle situations such as 3rd and 8. He might do it on 1st and 10.

.....all three aren't that good?

I too am concerned that a safety who showed poor tackling last year and a walk-on are competing for a starting OLB spot. The odds that both aren't that good are far higher than that both are diamonds in the rough.

end up at defensive end and that he had the chance to be a very good one. He appears to be a tweener right now.

I figure in the future, we will either have Skinner at one DE position and then Euells at the other, or move Euells to DT and start Jonathan McKenzie. Deontae will probably bulk up a little between now and then hopefully.

Then our LB's of the future will probably be C J Johnson at MLB, and then Christian Holmes at the OLB, and Dee Arrington at the S/OLB spot. I could see Matt Wells being a LB as well.

Cameron Lawrence 4 tackles in Egg Bowl looked Good to me. 2010 Media Guide says 14 tackles for 2009 as a True Freshman.

You know this board hates white defensive players. It started with Morgan and kept going with Toast. The ridicule Toast got was much more warranted than that of Morgan imo.
